(My Gourmet Mashed Potatoes that I ate way TOO much of last night.)
This graduation weekend, I spent a lot of time around some of my favorite comfort foods.
You know the ones.
Foods that hold nostalgia or remind us of special childhood memories. Quite possibly your favorite comfort foods soothe you, pique positive emotions or on the downside are consumed to relieve negative stress and before you know it, the batch of cookies is gone.
Often we bring comfort foods into the occasion during times of celebration, and for me, I know my favorite comfort foods are always associated with carbs.
For others, it’s the satisfying thought of Chicken Noodle soup when one is sick or Shepherd’s Pie, just like Gram used to make. It might even be something as simple as Grilled Cheese and canned Tomato Soup because those stir up special traditions. I know with a group this big, the term comfort food has a broad sweeping reach, so please share yours.
I thought it would be really fun to do a quick impromptu poll in the comments stating our favorite comfort foods. Then I am going to tally them and bring us a “Go To” list and hopefully incorporate that into my photo recipes section.
Here are some of my Top Five comfort food favorites. (And yes, french fries would also be up here if they seemed more “comforting.”) 🙂
Double Stuffed, Twice Baked Potatoes (also perfect to make ahead)
Homemade French Bread (with me showing you just how easy it really can be)
Then you can move onto Homemade Butterhorn Rolls or any hot out of the oven bread is so yummy.
And last but not least, my Copy Cat Cinnabon Recipe.
All the others above, anyone can whip up in minutes. These are a little bit more time consuming, but worth every minute.
And just imagine. I took this picture before the rolls were even baked. Envision them finished with that yummy frosting.
So here are some of my Top Comfort Food Recipes. This is also the indicating factor of why 2 – 3 times a year, I do a 7 day Carb detox to completely break myself from the Carbohydrate cravings. 🙂 That too, is a good thing.
So for this Tasty Tuesday, I would so appreciate you popping in the comments and sharing your favorite comfort foods for my impromptu poll.
I think this will be a fun one.
I can’t wait to see what you have been dishing up this week.
As always, please link up to your specific recipe, link back here in your post and only link up two recipes (no recipe carnivals, please.)
