Jen Speaking

After speaking to thousands of women on a myriad of topics, there’s one thing that remains true, my desire is to know Him more deeply and make Him known.  I’m really a simple girl who loves Jesus and counts it a joy to proclaim that following Him is always worth it.  I consider it a high honor and privilege to gather with your team to create the most meaningful event for your group, while tailoring it to meet your particular needs.

I’m passionate about creating community and welcoming women into a deeper understanding of how the Gospel is lived out in our ordinary, everyday lives. So whether it’s casting a vision for biblical hospitality, understanding our finances better, learning how to creatively turn a house into a home while keeping on a budget or diving deep into Scriptural application for your chosen event topic, I will share authentically with humor, tenderness and practical insights that your attendees can apply immediately. Women crave community and it’s my heartbeat to gather together and point others to Him. I can’t wait to find out how I can partner with you.

Jen’s Topics

With the release of “Just Open the Door,” I’ve had the continued honor of helping cast a generational vision for open door living. With that broad theme comes a variety of possible topics that include everything from biblical hospitality, family discipleship, mentoring, what it means to live in freedom from comparison. to practical hands on workshop like decorating on a budget, easy meal ideas, as well as frugal living and finance. Below is only a sampling of the variety of topics which are close to my heart. Feel free to contact me and let’s brainstorm ways I can help serve your event.

Once a Month Memory Moments: The Power of Purposeful Traditions

Sleeping under the Christmas tree, Family Fun Night…Easter Eggstravaganza, Cozy, childhood memories… Jen will encourage you to maximize your family time and build strong family ties by weaving simple traditions into everyday life. Learn how to create powerful lifelong associations between family bonding, traditions, and the values that you cherish. Evaluate your own family time to see if it has the essential ingredients to leave a lasting legacy, and start new traditions that will have your children anxious for more. Bring a notebook. You will leave with creative ideas, both crazy and meaningful, that you can implement immediately and you don’t even have to spend a dime.

Just Open the Door (Geared Towards Parents)

For many of us, our hearts ache for community but the thought of inviting people into our lives, not to mention our homes, feels more like inviting judgment on our entertaining skills and stress on our already maxed-out schedules.

With babies and laundry, dirty floors and messy lives, Jen has seen the Lord use her incredibly ordinary home as the launching pad for some of His most significant Kingdom work. What if opening your front door has the power to radically change the world? To make an impact and leave a legacy with everyday invitations?  With humor, authenticity and tangible tools to implement when you get home, Jen Schmidt will reframe how you think about hospitality and equip you to walk a road of welcome in your everyday lives. As parents, we strive to implement character building opportunities with our kids, but Jen will share a secret – every time we choose open-door living—whether in our homes or by taking hospitality on the road just like Jesus—those we invite in get to experience the lived-out Gospel, our kids grow up in a life-lab of generosity, and we trade insecurity for connection.

Come ready for practical tips and a huge dose of “Yes, You Can” encouragement because opening the door of your heart and home just might be His platform to ignite generational change.

Live the 80% off lifestyle and love it!

With five children, Jen can make a dollar stretch with the best of them. Learn how you too can enjoy living on less and loving it. Covering every aspect of home management on a budget (aside from food, which is covered in other workshops), Jen will walk you through holiday shopping, tips for children, the ins and outs of thrifting as a lifestyle with pro tips on yard sale discoveries, as well as putting together a designer wardrobe for pennies on the dollar; Frugal Fashionista syle. She will share her expertise on cutting ones household budget dramatically in most aspects of your life.

Just Open the Door

Why does the word “hospitality” stir so many varying emotions? In a culture where women crave connection and continually combat loneliness, what if we are overlooking the single most effective tool for Kingdom change and it’s right in front of us? What if YOU are the exact person the Lord wants to use today? Believe it or not, our “gifting,” personality, size of home and cooking skills have nothing to do with it. This is for everyone.

After decades in ministry, Jen Schmidt is convinced that opening our door has the power to radically impact our culture, to make an impact on our immediate community and quite possibly shift how we think about our home.  Let’s reframe our preconceived notions on hospitality and understand its critical role in discipleship, evangelism and the changing of the next generation. Leave inspired, encouraged and equipped with tangible ideas to implement immediately.

Putting It All Together: Balancing the Budget

Most of us run from the dreaded “B” word –budget, but all the coupon cutting and thrift store shopping in the world will not make a dent unless the basics of our personal finances are in order. Jen will share her family’s personal story of navigating difficult financial circumstances and how that has prepared them for the future. She will give an overview on some key aspects; understanding how to live without debt, creating a budget that works for you, brainstorming ways to increase your income, teaching your children about money and more.

Balancing Meal Time Mountain and Beyond

It’s 5:00pm and the dreaded, “What’s for dinner?” question beckons once again. If there’s one day to day stress point with which every Family Manager deals, it’s getting organized in the kitchen without spending a fortune to feed the family. Let’s tackle this dilemma together as we brainstorm meal planning tips (even if you are not a planner), C.O.S.T. Cooking (Cook Once, Serve Twice), freezer meals and ways to save in the kitchen even if you never desire to cut coupons (gasp). Jen will finish with ideas to make your house a haven with a “Welcome Home” mentality; entertaining on a budget is so much easier than you ever thought possible.
