Join me on the 30 Day Shred & Giveaway



Reading the comments on my last post, The Weight Loss Roller Coaster, excited me to no end (and made me a little nervous too). πŸ™‚ I am thrilled that many of you want to join me during these 30 Days of Torture towards healthy living, and I know that if we set our minds to it, we can do anything for twenty minutes a day.

I am personally working my way through these days by challenging myself with the 30 Day Shred. (You can purchase it from Amazon, Target, and someone even mentioned having it in their NetFlicks queue. It’s about $10 and a more frugal option than joining a gym.) For twenty minutes, the trainer, Jillian from The Biggest Loser, asks a lot of our bodies, but she guarantees results. She offers options for various fitness levels, but I don’t want these 30 days to be about a specific program. I want these 30 days to be about forming new healthy living habits. Whether you dust off a VHS tape that’s been on your shelf for years, or commit to cutting out sugar for the month, pick an area of discouragement and decide now to give it no ground this month. For me, it’s exercise.

For months, my husband diligently worked through a high intensity program called P90X, and wanted me to join in. Every night, I flat out said, β€œNo.” I wasn’t ready to commit, in layman’s terms, lack of self discipline. BUT, I am ready now and you all are helping me realize that we can do this together by encouraging each other while holding each other accountable.

Starting Monday, I will begin Day 1 and then will update with a short blog post late that night. You can all chime in in the comments section, and share how your day went. Then after that I will keep updating either in a blog post or on my Facebook Page. Each Saturday, I will put Mr. Linky up and if you have a blog, you can link up with your progress and share for us all to read.

Considering that last year we were in the midst of unemployment, I know that sometimes an extra $10 just might not be in the budget. I would like to use my Swagbucks and buy two 30 Day Shred DVDs to give away. Hopefully, this will start a few of you off on the right foot.

  3. I have that video, and it is one tough workout, for me anyway. But if I remember, correctly, it’s only 20 minutes. You can do anything for 20 minutes. Maybe I need to look for it and start using it again! Good luck!

I hope you feel God’s blessing while you’re on your 30-day journey and I hope this blog series blesses many other women! I can definitely relate, since I’m in the middle of my own weight loss challenge. You’re right that it doesn’t go away; it’s something we have to learn to manage, not pretend doesn’t exist! It’s sad that our society has so much trouble with body image – women being too heavy or, on the other hand, too thin due to eating disorders – but ignoring that doesn’t make us more healthy. It’s better to admit the truth. πŸ™‚

  12. Seems I keep fighting the same 10 lbs over and over! My biggest issue is the lack of consistent exercise..not for lack of time but lack of priority and motivation! πŸ™‚ Your challenge may change that!

    What a sweet thing to offer to do! You have to know how much we appreciate all the helpful info and fun posts ! My goal for the 30 days is .. I found out I have a gluten allergy shortly before the new year. I have had to totally revamp my diet. In the process, I found that I felt much better and began to exercise. I have taken off 45 lbs and countless clothing sizes since then. I would love to continue to push myself, to loose some more weight, and to tighten up some of this loose skin from loosing weight!

I’ve been thrifting to have things to wear at this size, but I held on to my smaller things since I really felt I could get there again. Between a move back to the mainland and some health issues, it’s been tough. I have 15 more lbs to go before I am at prepregnancy weight, but even that was overweight for my 5’4 frame. I am looking to weigh a healthy 135lbs. My hubby and I tried it a while back (did it off and on with C25K for a bit, then tried the actual 30 day challenge)… and then house-sat for my parents and lost the dvd. Unfortunately/fortunately (teehee), my parents found the dvd a few days back and are going to drop it off here when they come into town on Saturday.

    We really need to get back on bandwagon. Need to at least get back on the C25K bandwagon if we really do want to do a 5k by Thanksgiving (we were on the second to last week when we got the flu, and just never restarted). Go everyone!

  93. I already follow this blog. But, what are my 30 day goals? To get a handle on this up and down rollercoaster. Yes, I love food! Yes, I am an emotional eater! Yes, I am a closet eater! Yes, I am a mom and I finish my kids plates …why? b/c that left over waffle soaked in peanut butter and syrup looks too good to throw away!!!

    I have the 10/12 pounds that have bugged me for 10 -12 years!!

    I have done it all in terms of dieting and changing my habits. I have never tried any thing by Jillian…I am willing and ready to hit it hard again!! A free book would be awesome since our bills are piling up lately BUT it is worth the $10 splurge even if I don’t win!

  108. I could stand to lose ~50 lbs. The weight has crept on since my final years of college. I have been good about getting up to exercise every morning since 1/3/10, but have only lost 15 lbs. I need to kick it up a notch, and this looks like the perfect way to do so.   135. At one time I had lost 80 pounds. Now a few pounds are creeping back on me because I’m not exercising and eating just like I should. I would love to get back down and feel much better about myself.     1. I injured my foot almost two years ago and that doesn’t make for good weight.

    I am hoping to get pregnant in the next few months. I’d really like to get my body back in as good of shape as possible before that happens. I’ve considered joining a gym, but since I decided to stay home with my son full time, I can’t afford to go to a gym, especially one that has childcare.   188. I would love to get this DVD! I have recently lost 40 pounds and have 40 more to go, hopefully by the end of the year! I would totally use this to kick my exercise into high gear! My goal would be to lose between 10- 15 pounds with the 30 day shed

  192. My husband also has went through P90X. I tried the first day and my limbs were like jello. I could hardly lift anything the next day. I quit that program after one day and started to do one of their other videos. I have fallen off the wagon….and gained a few pounds back. Thanks for the encouragement! I’m not entering for the video. πŸ™‚

  193. I am officially middle aged now (46) and I’m finding that my weight keeps creeping up even though I’m not doing anything different. My goal is to try to watch what I’m eating more and to fit in exercise where I can. I would love to try this DVD!! It’s hard for me to commit to hour long workouts with children at home. Since this is only a 20 minute workout, I think I might be more motivated to stick with it.

  197. I am going out on a limb here and joining in with you on the 30 day Shred. Just ran to WalMart today and bought the DVD for $9. Ready to get in shape and feel better about myself, inside and out. Happy to be joining with others on the 30 day journey as well!
