Looking at this picture makes me realize just how sick I am with the flu. This is my favorite treat of all times, and right now, the thought of eating it does funny things to my stomach. I haven’t been able to eat anything in two days, but it’s true to say that Chicken Noodle Soup would sound really good right now.
I am just admitting that my children have had to eat frozen pizzas two days in a row. That means it’s time to get my freezer cooking game on as soon as my virus passes. This sickness snuck up on me during a week where I didn’t have any thing preplanned for the family, and now I truly regret procrastinating on that bulk cooking day.
Moms do not have time to get sick, especially when they are supposed to write up a fabulous Tasty Tuesday post. Oh well, I know you all understand. Tuesdays are all about you anyhow, and the inspiration you bring to the table.
Do you have a comfort food that you turn to when you get sick? I’m starting a list, and hopefully, I can try some of these tomorrow.
(If you are reading this by email, don’t forget to click on Tasty Tuesday Parade of Foods, and you will be brought to the blog so you can see all these wonderful recipes.)
Simple Rules for Tasty Tuesday Parade of Foods – If you’re joining in with a recipe link, two simple requests. As always, Please link directly to your recipe post and not your blog URL, so that everyone can find the recipe months from now.
Also, link back here so that everyone can join in the fun. MANY of you are not linking back, and it’s just common courtesy of blog carnivals.
I hope you feel better soon. To be honest, when I’m not feeling well I usually lose my appetite. Nothing sounds/tastes good.
Get some rest!
Oh, I sure hope you feel better soon. It’s tough when Mom is the one sick ’cause we never feel like we can stop being Mom and take a day off. Get some rest!
I always turn to something like mashed potatoes when I am sick. Good and comforting.
Hang in there,
Jenn
Hope you feel better soon! I linked up my version of chicken noodle soup for you. 😉 Get some rest!
I hope you feel better soon!
Sending prayers your way to feel better soon!
Last year when I had the flu, my 13yo daughter made me Chicken and Rice Chowder. After only a few saltines and ginger ale for 48 hours, it was the best food I had ever eaten. Hope you feel better soon!
I usually want saltines with peanut butter…but lately when I’m feeling under the weather oatmeal with peanut butter and a little bit of honey seems to make me feel better. Sure hope you recover soon!
I just linked up with Honey Lavender Shortbread.
Oh, man. It’s bad when chocolate won’t revive you. So sorry to hear you’re sick. Usually, I remain well by sheer force of will, but I, too, succumbed last week. It’s nice to see how capable one’s children (and husband!) really are when push comes to shove.
Hope you’re well soon, but remember that the house won’t fall down if you lie down….
When I am sick I crave popcorn and grape juice. I know it is odd, but an added benefit is that it really easy to make.
I hope you feel better soon!
Feel better soon! I was out of it last week, though the story is pretty funny but scary too. I was out in the snow until 3am shoveling in anticipation of taking my parents to the airport (that didnt happen until saturday!) and because I was working hard and breathing through my mouth, i got some cold damage and blisters on my tongue and inside my mouth! I couldn’t eat anything HOT or spicey for 5 days! It was awful! This week I am feeling better thank goodness! Linking up a delicious chicken paprikash that is perfect for winter nights. All the best! Alex
So sorry you are sick, Jen! When I am feeling a bit better after being sick, I love sweet hot tea and toast. It’s very comforting. Hope you feel better soon!!
Get better soon and thank you for hosting such a lovely party!
Hope you feel better soon! There’s nothing worse than being sick when it’s awful outside – and there’s nothing wrong with 2 days of pizza. Grilled cheese, anyone?
🙂 Laura
Carbs. Bread. Crackers etc. But not overly salty ::gag:: … Hope you feel better soon Jen … hear that 50% of the country has widespread flu at the moment, definitely see it in blogsphere …
Jen, I’m so sorry to hear you’re so sick. I’m just impressed that you were able to write the post at all. Stay in bed and rest well. This has become my favorite chicken soup recipe: http://quiteatingout.blogspot.com/2011/01/wild-rice-soup.html. I wish I could bring you a big pot! Stay warm and rest well… Praying you feel better very soon.
Hope you feel better soon!
I just found your blog and am really enjoying it so far. I’m very sorry to hear you are feeling sick and hope you are feeling better soon.
Oh, no! Praying you feel better soon. Take some elderberry extract and or juice from your health food store. Believe me it helps!!
Jen, I just realized I had forgotten to include the link back to Tasty Tuesday… Just added that to my post. Somehow, an hour after I linked, I was cleaning up breakfast dishes and realized my mistake. I’m sorry about that!
It’s toughest when moms get sick; blogging is the least of your worries because we’re all very understanding folk.
{Just be sure it doesn’t happen again! LOL}
Feel better soon!
So sorry you’re not well! To be honest – when I’m sick – nothing tastes good. 🙂 At least your family will appreciate you more now!
Oh Jen, I’m so sorry to hear you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for hosting, Jen! I’ll be in and out browsing links today. 🙂 I’m sorry to hear that you have trouble getting bloggers to link back. I host a blog party each Friday, and I have the same problem, but I just assumed it was because I have a smaller blog. :s
I hope you are feeling better soon. When I’m feeling tummy sick, I eat a lot of puddings, apple sauce, crackers. And my Hubby’s Chicken and Dumplings always makes me feel better too.
Hi Jen 🙂 “I’ve taken two aspirins, don’t wake me till morning” doesn’t always work. Especially if a meal time falls during that time frame. You know, ya feed the family one day, and they expect to eat again the very next day! Gee-sh …. o;-p
I would recommend that you go to your local food service store and buy a case of pre made chicken fajita meat. It is packaged three bags to a box. It is then easy for the family to pull out a bag, thaw it even in the microwave, and create their own dinners from. It’s always interesting what they come up with!
Hope you feel better soon, Jen!
Jennifer
I hope you’re feeling better soon! When I’m under the weather with a cold, I order out for spicy Thai chicken soup. When I’ve got the flu, it’s got to be mashed potatoes.
Hope you feel better soon! I tend to still have my appetite when I’m sick so I usually eat normally. The only time I ever eat soup is when I’m sick though. I always have a can in the back of the cabinet just in case I need it.
Our family all loves my favorite go-to food when I’m sick… cream of wheat, and if I’m getting better and feeling a little hungry (but maybe have a sore throat) we add: peanut butter, brown sugar, and chocolate chips.)
Last time I had an upset stomach type of virus, I drank soy milk–a little sweet, some nutrition, and not too heavy…
Hope you feel better soon!
Jen, so sorry you are sick. Get well quick and sip some liquid jello 🙂
Hope you are on the mend.
Fondly,
Glenda
I am a complete chicken soup girl when I’m sick. 🙂 Oh, I hope you feel better!
Hope you feel better soon! Thanks for hosting this awesome linky! 🙂
Great to see you @ blissdom last week!
Blessings!
get well soon dear! First time in your blog. Linked one of my very simple dish:)
Whenever we were sick to our stomachs, my mom would make us Jello, but have us drink it while it was still warm. I still think about it sometimes when I’m not feeling well.
Sorry – forgot to say, we were allowed to have it AFTER we could keep stuff down, and NEVER a red flavor. She always said the red dye was to harsh on an upset stomach.
Hi Jen! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I can be such a space cadet sometimes, so thank you for reminding me to link back. 🙂 I hope you’re feeling better!
Hey! I just found your blog and am LOVING it! Would you be any chance be a former consultant with Once Upon a Family?? I loved working for them and gained so much from that experience! Traditions and celebrating the little things with my Happy Home is truly what I treasure! I am so thrilled to have found a friend in that journey – you are an inspiration! Thank you for this delicious link up party!
Yes,I was with them for many years as a Leader with the company. I’ve mentioned it a few times in the past on my blog, and have shared some of the tradition ideas from my time with them. Fun that you found my blog…small world. Did we ever meet at the Annual Conference?
