What’s a girl to do when she’s sitting at her laptop attempting to get work done and that tiny little sweet craving hits?
She tries to resist it, but it keeps calling her name.
She makes her own personalized Turtle Candies, of course. The best part is that she can make just a few at a time if she wants because it’s all about balance, right? 😉
I might as well stop referring to myself in third person. The “she” would be me and then my daughter caught the quick treat bug too and we enjoyed our experimentation. Yes, it’s a perfect starter recipe.
With the holidays around the corner, I’m all about minimizing the stress that steals our joy and one of the ways I do that is by putting the hours of expectation on hand made treats into perspective.
If you have the time, and it’s your love language which fills your tank, then knock yourself out of the park with homemade goodness around the clock, but if December hits and you are feeling the guilt and burden laden with expectation, then by golly, let it go (que daughters singing) and use this ever so easy Turtle Candy recipe.
There is no golden rule Christmas book that says every cookie recipe has to take five hours. This Easy ROLO Turtle Candy recipe made with pretzels literally takes five minutes (because you have to unwrap the candy otherwise 30 seconds flat) and it’s a hit every where I go. I’m sure you’ve tried them before and if you haven’t, go to the store now. 🙂
While you’ll want to make dozens of these in your oven, don’t forget how simple it is to make just one or two or three at a time right in your microwave. (Yes, I even experimented by using Chocolate Espresso Beans when I was desperate.)
I know, you may never forgive me for telling you this personalized treat hack, so while you’re at it, check out my other Simple Holiday Recipes. That will make up for it.
What are some of your simple holiday recipes? I’d love to share them on my blog if you’re interested?
Easy ROLO Turtle Candy Recipe with Pretzels
Ingredients
- Small Pretzels
- Bag of ROLOS *Chewy Carmels in Chocolate
- Pecan Halves
- optional mini M&M’s, sprinkles, garnish
Oven Directions:
Heat oven to 350°F.
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Place one pretzel for each pretzel treat desired on prepared sheet.
Top each pretzel with one unwrapped ROLO® candy.
Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until caramel piece begins to soften, but do not let melt completely. They will smooth down when you top with pecan.
Remove from oven; top with either pecan half, M&M’s, sprinkles or your choice of cute garish.
Cool completely.
Microwave Directions:
Line microwave-safe plate with wax paper (for easy clean up).
Place 6 -8 pretzels on plate and top each pretzel with one unwrapped ROLO.
Microwave for about 30 – 45 seconds or until caramel has softened slightly.
If needed, microwave for an additional 10 seconds, but most likely they are softened enough when you top with garnish or use fork to smooth chocolate down.
Carefully slide parchment paper and pretzels onto tray or countertop. Top with either a pecan half or garnish.
Cool completely.
Enjoy and why don’t you spread the love and share this quick treat with some friends?
These are so cute and always get gobbled up!!
I wish they weren’t so easy to make! Or that I hadn’t tried making them in the microwave 😉 haha
I read to two classes every Wednesday and I usually make something for them. Just finished lemon cupcakes with chocolate pumpkins that I made on top. These will be perfect for next week but I have to omit the nuts – no nuts allowed in school. Maybe I will put raisins in them. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds perfect. You can top with M&Ms or just sprinkles I did on some of them. Enjoy 🙂
