I am working on a talk called Living on More…with less, for our North Carolina Home School Conference this weekend. I am only referring to two mens’ resources in my workshop, and I was thrilled to discover that one of those resources is being offered for free.
Long before financial guru Dave Ramsey revolutionized people’s spending habits by encouraging hard core debt free living, the late Larry Burkett had been laying the ground work with financial principles so that leaders like Dave could take action steps to get out of debt.
As a CFP, my father was privileged to sit under the tutelage of Mr. Burkett while I was growing up, and therefore many of these principles were ingrained in me before a debt snowball ever occurred. Dave Ramsey and Larry Burkett are two men that I confidently recommend in the world of financial mentoring. I was thrilled to see that Larry’s Money Matters book was being offered with a “no strings attached” agreement. If you are looking for a place to begin with being better financial stewards of your money, check this out.
I’ve included the description below taken from their website.
In addition, if you need a good sub sandwich to go with that reading time, I came across the Quizno’s Q club. Sign up here to receive updates and a free flatbread Sammie coupon will be delivered to your inbox on sign up! No phone # necessary. It confirms on name and email.
As much as I believe eating at home is the best choice on the budget, yes, we love subs now and then, especially when they’re free. I love the deals they send through.
One of America’s foremost authorities on financial stewardship, Larry Burkett presents a comprehensive resource in Money Matters. Indexed for easy use, Burkett offers concise answers to the most frequently asked questions from his national radio show. Drawing from over thirty years of Bible and finance study, Burkett provides principles for managing your money in a number of categories, including: housing and automobiles, retirement, budgeting, taxes, business issues and insurance, debt and credit, giving, investments, family and money issues.
Money Matters isn’t just for those in need of financial Rx. It’s an ideal resource for anyone desiring to align finances with Biblical principles.
Oh, I hope that your talk goes well!! I’ve done a Larry Burkett workbook before years ago…we had a gentleman from church give a money management course to our (then) young couples sunday school class!
From one zombie to another I hope we recognize each other this weekend. I’m just NOW typing my talk outlines. Mercy!
I’ll be at the conference and hope to hug your neck! You have helped me so much financially in such a short amount of time.
I’ll be at the Classical Conversations booth on Friday from 4:30-8:30 so if your talk is during that time, I will miss you! 🙁
Blessings on you and your talk!
I am praying for your preparation and delivery of the message you will speak this weekend! I am so proud of you and look forward to hugging your neck when the Lord allows for us to meet face to face!
You are a precious blog sister!
PS – I need your address so I can send you a book you won on my blog…it was during the Blog Series I did about “What Christians Believe.”

Good luck at your conference!!! 🙂
Looking forward to the conference! Love your blog!
Good luck at your conference~ I’ll be praying for you. And thank you for this post and the info it provides. In these difficult financial times, it’s always nice to be reminded of how God wants us to handle our money.
Love Dave, love Larry! I need to go back through our Financial Peace University stuff and actually DO it!
I really like Larry Burkett..we have listened to his tapes…I am not to crazy about the other guy(Ramsey)..I think he can be obnixious on his tv show on FOX…just my little ole’ opinion!
Congrats! I have selected you to receive One Lovely Blog Award. Keep up the great work!!
Check out my blog for how to receive your award.
Best wishes with your talk.
And I see I’m not the only one who thinks you are a lovely lady. There’s a Lovely Blog Award waiting for you on my blog too.
Every year I say we need to head over to the NCHE, but I REALLY hate that I will miss your talk:) Maybe next year I can make definite plans…I would really like to be there!
I agree, Larry Burkett had some great books and encouragement out there about sound financial habits. I had the opportunity to interview him by phone once for an article I was writing, and he was most gracious to speak with me, too. A class act! Hope your talk goes well and you’re not too much of a “zombie”! 🙂
Thanks for the links! I love Quiznos too!
I hope you do well speaking at the conference!
I didn’t know you lived in NC. Imagine my surprise when I read that you were speaking at our state conference! I would have loved to go, but I couldn’t get there this year. Next year my daughter will be one of the graduates.
If your talks were anything like your blog, I’m sure you did a fabulous job!
