Every day when I glance out my French doors, I have the joy of seeing our friend come to say “hi.” Do you see her? She is wanting us to come out and play.
There are downsides for this city girl doing the country living thing, but the hidden blessings abound. The beauty is one of them.
You see, we don’t have to care for her, clean up her messes, muck her stall or even feed her…we just get to enjoy her majesty and might as she gleefully gallops through the meadow.
She belongs to the neighbor.
But she LOVES us, because we feed her crunchy carrots and amazing apples. I say that is a mighty good exchange for the pleasure she gives, wouldn’t you?

My son has nicknames her “Pepito” since we don’t know her given name…don’t ask me why. I don’t really think it fits her, so you can rename her anything you’d like.

Ever since my son got his first kiss, the kids have enjoyed making this beauty do funny things each and every day. They are so naughty, but it sure is hysterical to watch what she does for her treats.
I took these pictures many weeks ago and never posted them. I SO wish you could see our woods now…..breathtaking. I feel like I am at a resort. Aren’t you all enjoying the majesty of this time of year?
(adding this after my exhausting Holiday Market….If I had the time to load up another picture, I would add the picture of Mocha’s droppings. Guess where she slept again…..grrr.
Oh, my! I have NEVER been first! 🙂
Hope all went well at the market this weekend and you sold LOTS. Missed seeing your beautiful face on the stage with the choir. They sounded GREAT yesterday!

The first picture with the swing handles, kind of makes him look like a unicorn!! Very cool!
Oh MY she is GORGEOUS!!!! What a fabulous sight to see out your window! Those blue eyes are just wild looking….LOVE that!
She is a beauty! I grew up with horses so looking at her is wonderful.
Magnificent. WE have a neighbor horse too!!!!Outside my window – I see the top of the head of my six year old “digging a pond”. Beyond that – our neighbors white farm fence and her sloping lot with beautiful trees. Our lot lines are a little weird – but we love the view.
wow! what a pretty horse! and well behaved!
I love to look at horses too. She is pretty! We can see a farm and cows by looking out our french doors. We can hear them sometimes too. I love it.
What a great friend/neighbor to have!!! She is beautiful & must be such a joy to your children.
That is an awesome neighbor horse who obviously loves the attention! What fun you have out there…goats on a porch swing and polkadot horses. I can’t even imagine.
I love that! I wish that was my view, some days!
When I look out my window I see houses, too close and lots of them! Me, bitter? I’m not bitter, why do you ask?
My duaghter would be in heaven if we had a horse that visited every day. She loves them and is hoping for one for Christmas. On our .21 acre lot.
That is a beautiful horse!
I personally have always wanted to live in the country but most of my life I’ve always been just on the outskirts of it- stuck in the suburbs! But maybe one day!
I wanted to add that I think I missed commenting on the post where your children interviewed their grandpa but what a truly wonderful thing that is…I am so passionate, too, about preserving our family history.
And when I was a child, my dad always told me to ask my grandparents about their stories…and now that they’re gone, I’m so glad I did!
Also, you may not be one to want to receive awards or tags, but I did send an award your way, in case you missed it! 🙂
Have a great rest of the week!

Jen, I responded to you on my blog. I think YOU should consider posting some Vikings love on your blog if you’d like me to send traffic your way. I mean I’m getting upwards of like 5 visitors a day! 🙂
That is so cool that you get to experience such beauty in your backyard!
My view is not that great!
The neighbor behind us has
acreage with an airline strip for small planes to land. So we get to see a few times a week some planes take off and land. Woohoo!
He also has a couple of miniature ponies…they are cute but nothing compared to your Pepito!
Hi Jen,
This is a great post! Love the horse and the idea of being in the country and closer to God there.
Being in nature certainly seems to direct us to our creator.
Love you!
Sonya
I am loving your pictures!
Hi, it was nice to see you on mamasporch…glad you could sit a spell 🙂 Just wondering how you found me? I thought it was through my mention on a fav movie, The Ultimate Gift, but I had not posted that yet! I was talking with a friend about HG and how it’s not up here and I miss getting it and (pow) you’re on my brand new blog! Must be a God thing…
Oh my goodness! Pepito is so beautiful! I love his eyes!! (In the first picture…I kept staring at it because the bar on the swing set makes Pepito look like a unicorn!!!! hahaha!) We have woods out back, too, and it has been beautiful out here! I love seeing all of that…I wish it lasted longer into the winter. Soon we will be left with cold, cold wind and twigs…
Jen,
Hope your weekend went well. Love those kind of pets!
giddyap!!!!
WOW – I covet. The coolest thing we see out here are wild coyotes and, um, I get more scared than anything because I’m usually out walking at night when I see them!
How fun! My boys LOVE horses. That must be such a treat! I love the pictures showing all of her teeth…too cute!

Our house sits on the highest point in the county so we have a beautiful view. When I look outside my back window, I see trees and a field where foxes, deer, groundhogs, and rabbits wander through. The only thing I’m missing is a horse! I am so jealous!
Wow, that is amazing! We live out in the country too and enjoy having most of our windows bare so we don’t miss any of the scenery. Our leaves have been glorious this fall, and I’m just hoping they’ll hold on during this rainy, windy day so we can keep enjoying them. I’d say you do have the best end of the bargain with that beautiful horse!
We see a similar seen when looking out the back door but we have all the hassel that comes with it (feeding, cleaning, etc.). I like your side of the view much better.LOL
This is great! She looks like quite a character, and that's what makes her so much fun, right? I thought I was lucky when I was younger having a German Shepherd next door.
