In one week, I will be packing my bags for a journey that will surely change my life.
As many of you know, three years ago, I had the privileged of heading to South America to bring my precious nephew with Down’s Syndrome home to his forever family.
It was a life giving week, and one which has shaped how I do Life (with a capital L) with others.
My heartstrings have been forever tangled with the children of South America, so when asked to join the Peru team, and help raise awareness for the children of that region, I couldn’t help but anticipate the honor of sharing through word and pictures more of that unending joy that our sweet Edison brings.
Knowing that just one family, one donation, one sponsor can change the generational legacy of families there, I couldn’t refuse.
I am nervous, excited, passionate, exhausted, emotional, honored, humbled, yes, I have a whole slew of other emotions that could fill the page. Thrilled beyond words to be joining such a special team of bloggers, I ask you to partner with us in prayer as we head out early next Monday morning. I will be live blogging from Peru for the entire week, and know that my eyes will be opened to so many things as I share.
If you feel so led, please share about our trip or feel free to use the buttons to spread the word.
As I sponsor through compassion, it’s a blessing to take part in releasing just one more child from poverty.

That is awesome. The Compassion girl we sponsor in our American Heritage Girls troop is from Peru. We would love to be able to meet her someday!
@Sarah at SmallWorld, Sarah – that is so neat? I may even have the opportunity of visiting where she is since I know we are going to visit villages and homes of Compassion children.
I am excited to hear more about this opportunity. I will be following long for sure. My husband and I have been sponsoring a child from Rawanda for over 10 years. He is now a strapping 19 year-old! @Christina Blalock, Thanks sweet friend – being away from the kids for the week is the hardest part. 🙂

So excited for you! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I was at Becoming this year and last and heard your sister in love speak. Everytime she tells of the mission trips her family has been on it inspires me to be a better person. Thank you to all of your family for sharing.

Praying for you! I just got back from the Compassion Sponsor Tour on October 20. It was an amazing trip. It was my second trip with Compassion to Peru. He is currently teaching physics and math and is now earning his master’s degree! Enjoy your time in Peru! I will be excited to follow you and your group. Say “hello” to your guides Soledad and Elia for me!

Wow. I just happened to be catching up on posts on your site this weekend, when I looked over at the sidebar and saw a little Peruvian child looking at me. My 1st thought was, “Did she know I was going to stop by today?”
I have loved South America most of my life, and Peru has been the country especially etched on my heart. I am thrilled to get to read about this journey and see what God is doing in what I call my “sweetheart” country. You will be in my prayers, along with all of those beautiful, precious children.
If you run across an adorable 10-year old named, Nayeli, say hello to her for me! I have been sponsoring her for more than six years.
Enjoy your trip! I will be following virtually.
Blessings to you and all who travel with you. You all will be in my daily prayers. I am so excited to get to see Peru through your travels. Last December 27 our special forever baby went to be with Jesus. He was born with only a half a heart but we were blessed with him for 6months. A few months later my husband and I were at a concert that at intermission had a video about Compassion Ministries and volunteers passed around packets of kids. We already sponsor 2 children through World Vision, so weren’t looking to sponsor more. But as the video continues I asked to just take a look at one of the packets. I began to cry and as I showed my husband he teared too. We met Antony from Peru. He was born on December 27. A God sign! He was meant to be our sponsor child…..Thank you for taking this journey and the call of our Lord to not for get the needs of others.
Oh Jean – Completely choked up as I read this comment to our team. WOW! Thank you for sharing and giving.
My sponsor child, Miguel, lives near Jaen and attends the De los Niños es el Reino Student Center. If you get there, tell Miguel hello from his sponsor.
Praying for a safe trip for all of you and bless you all for representing those of us who sponsor children in Peru.
I have been sponsoring Compassion children for 17 years. My first one from Ethiopia just graduated from the program. So I added Evelyn from Peru to my Compassion family of 12. I will be following your trip this week with many prayers for your safety and well being.
Jen, we were looking for new compassion kids to sponsor tonight and saw your picture on the Peru page! It was so fun and so many fun Westover memories came to mind. I hope you guys are doing well!
Love that!!!! So many memories. 🙂 And thank you for continuing to be part of Compassion. I can not say enough about their ministry and the impact they have.
