I am the “Queen of Forced Bonding.”
Being in youth ministry for so many years, during the days when I could still do a back bend, and shoot Kix out of my nose, just enabled me to have a knack for forcing people to get to know each other.
Don’t worry, as an adult I hate my kind of people too. 🙂
(how do I put a real smiley face on here?)
Anyhow, camping is the ultimate in forced bonding….I love it….(mostly, except for the don’t get any sleep, have the hugest bug bites known to man, and I have issues with trying to go to the bathroom if I think others can hear factor, but besides that)
….it’s the ultimate in creating family bonding and special memories, and I am all over that…!
So imagine when my sis in law from Colorado sent us this picture of their camping site.
My nephew picked Wheeler Lake, CO – 12,166 feet to go camping for his bday…
I can’t even count that high!

In the second picture, it is
hard to see, but there is a lake in the foreground, in front of the
mountain.
She shared no bedlam moments, but I know if it was us camping, we would have surely broken down with no cell coverage, had no one around for another 15,000 feet, had a leaking tent, and bears would have eaten all of our food.
So just pretend it was us camping…makes the story better.
Have a fabulous Friday, you amazing blogging friends!
P.S.
Isn’t God amazing to display such majesty? WOWZA!
That is beautiful! 🙂
Hope your weekend is full of fun…I would really like to hear more about your nephew’s barmitzvah sometime…I know that is not spelled right…or if it is, it doesn’t look right, lol.
You have an amazing family 🙂
Bella
whoa that is amazing!! how many tents for that many kids??
have a great weekend 🙂
The scenery is beautiful…but I’d rather have my teeth drilled without pain killers than have to go camping! EWWWWWW!!! (can you tell I had to spend waaaay too many vacations camping while I was growing up lol)
My hubby and I were youth leaders for years so I totally get this post!! Fabulous photos! Oh and I, too can’t stand people like me! hahaha That was hilarious!
Just wondered onto your blog from who knows where…glad I did! It’s refreshing!

we love it, too. we just took our first family adventure this past july 4th and were so glad that it worked even with our young kids. we tried when my oldest was just 8 months old, and it ended at 4am when she wouldn’t stop screaming in the tent. i’m sure the other campers appreciated that, too! so, we waited until our youngest was 1 1/2, to try to ensure that we wouldn’t have the repeat of having to pack up camp at 4am. We didn’t. And it definitely sparks interest for hikes like this!! Beautiful shot! And amazing spot to camp!
Oh, you are so my kind of girl and family. We love camping. I say that loosely, as my 16 year old daughter does not love it nearly as much as the rest of us. We are planning a camping trip for the fall. It’s just to hot for me any other time. Needless to say, we have never camped anywhere that beautiful. Lucky them.
I can’t imagine camping at over 12,000 feet! WOW… Yes, God’s Creation is beautiful and beyond words!! What a neat birthday trip!
I knew we were kindred sisters! My husband and I were in full time YM for 7 years. I was the “get to know you” woman too!LOL
That seems like a long time ago!
Camping at 12,000 feet sounds cooooold.
We love camping over here! Not the kind with the aircnditioned campers, but the real camping with tents and bugs! How fun.
Love to hear of a time when you were camping. 🙂
We’ve made some interesting memories camping.
Have a blessed weekend,
Sonya
I just love this…and had to comment on it because I had a night of “forced bonding” myself recently…I live in Colorado and my husband wanted to try our two-year-old with camping. It was NOT a restful night. So I can commiserate with you! 🙂 I also love your post about your husband dressing your kids…mine is so sweet and will do it too, but I just have to laugh at some of the ensembles he comes up with!
