I live with guilt.
Water drinking guilt, that is.
I know I don’t drink the recommended “8×8.” That’s the fancy rule name.
Did you know that the average person should drink a minimum of 8 – 8 ounce glasses of water every single day?
Yes.you.should.
And I don’t. That’s why I have water drinking guilt.
But when my sister in law told me how she served fruit water in a beautiful glass drinking pitcher, I realized what a difference this small addition would make to my whole attitude about drinking water.
And it did.
Not only is it so refreshing, but I no longer feel like it’s something I have to do.
It makes me feel all special like to have fruit in my water.
And we’re talking not just a slice of lemon.
Come on, try it.
Add just a little of whatever fruit is in season and let it chill for awhile.
The same fruit stayed just fine over the course of a few days, and we just kept refilling and chilling the water.
And don’t worry if you don’t have a real fancy glass serving pitcher. I want one with those neat spickets on the side so that the fruit doesn’t come out, but I don’t need it.
(Yes, I know…I had to slip that “want vs. need” in there somewhere, didn’t I?)
So, of course, these will do just fine. 😉
Very interesting idea!
Lucky me… I actually prefer water. 🙂 And, the "new" water rule is that you are to drink 1/2 of your weight in ounces every day. So the 8×8 thing (64 ounces) only works if you weigh 128 pounds or less.
And now I'll go hide while everyone throws things at me.
Great idea. I, too, don't drink enough water. I'll try this!

This looks so refreshing – makes me want to get up and drink some fruit water this very minute! 🙂
With all the Starbucks mochas I consume, it's very hard for me to fit in my water, but I do it. 😉 I have a big giant blue Nalgene bottle that my sister got for me when she was stationed as a nurse in Iraq. Water as pretty as yours deserves a nice pitcher though. 😉 I will have to retire the Nalgene for a bit, I think. 🙂
Thanks for hosting, Jen! I hope you might have a chance to stop by my Decorating Dilemmas Party sometime on Wednesday (or even Tuesday night). It's going to be a blast…even if it's just me partyin'. 🙂
I have that same water pitcher and am definitely going to add some fruit to it now. Thanks for the tip!
I also go by the 1/2 your body weight rule. We use lemon, but I never thought about using other fruit. It sounds yummy! Thanks for the great idea!
This is a wonderful idea. We have always used lemon but your water looked so tasty. A holistic doctor once suggested for me to put sliced cucumbers in our water because it is sweet without adding any extra sugar like fruit does. I have never tried it because I always eat the cucumbers before I think of making cucumber water. Oh well.
I have trouble drinking water too! This sounds like a great idea! I will definitely try it!
Hi there. Came over to read your blog because @frelle mentioned that you are a fellow Jennifer that she enjoys reading. I follow you on twitter but never had a chance to visit your blog. Now here I am. Why did I wait so long to visit? I'm definitely following your blog. 🙂 Have a wonderful day.
I drink a lot of water, probably way over the 64 oz a day. But my dh doesn't. We found that if he keeps water bottles in the fridge, he will drink them. Whatever works, I guess! Your water looks beautiful. Almost too good to drink!
Toni
I don't drink enough water either. I like it much better with some fruit, but never thought about putting anything different than lemon or lime.
Thanks for hosting!

Yum! Great idea. 🙂
What a great idea! It looks so pretty.
Thanks for hosting Tasty Tuesday.
Jane
The image of that beautiful pitcher of water has made me so thirsty!! Thanks for the super idea!!
I was getting a little confused because this new post wasn't showing up when I clicked on your home button Jeniffer, then I noticed it was dated August 1st?
Great idea! This is an excellent way to serve water to guests, too!
I like lemon water…I have heard that it isn't necessarily good to drink 8 glasses…it depends! I'd say try to cultivate awareness of your thirst…
Thanks for the link!
That's strange! I clicked over here this a.m. & your post from yesterday was still up, but it looks like you posted this hours ago. Weird! Anyway, I'm linked up.
Hey, could I get you to change out my blog button to the new one?? Pretty please!:)
Oh, and I don't drink enough water either. Got to do better!
What a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing!
I don't drink enough water either but I bet I would if I flavored it & prettied it all up w/ fruit! ;o) Love this idea!
I'm new to your party & your blog…love it! Nice to meet you Jen!
Water is for boiling pasta and for washing your hair- and I doubt you'll ever convice me otherwise….
What a great idea!!! I will do this 🙂
Yum! I've seen this idea, but have yet to try it, think I'll do it today :)!
Good grief I think I'm the only person who couldn't figure out how to link correctly! 😉 (#60)
How beautiful. And good for us.
Kind of like you!
I feel even guiltier… I drink water bottles- at least 3 a day- and put those flavor things in them. And I love it. LURVE it. It's the only way I get my water in. BUT, I think this is a great idea, too! And, if I did it, surely I could reward myself with a cute new dispenser thing-y, dontcha think?
Love this. Do you have issues with pulp?
Ginger
I need to try adding fruit. The only time I drank lots of water was the summer we lived without AC. It was hot, and sort of miserable, but I did keep myself well hydrated. Plu, it gives my kids a story to tell their future kids. You know, about the summer where the mean parents waited to buy a new AC unit, and we used fans.
And one of my favorites is not technically a fruit, but a cousin … cucumber! It's awesome!
What a great idea….and it's so pretty too! Makes it look so refreshing. 🙂
Thank you so much for this great idea. I also do not drink enough water but today I have been drinking the water with the fruit in it. It is so refreshing and it tastes great. What a difference it makes and it looks pretty too!
A friend serves water the same but with lemons, oranges and cucumber. Very refreshing.
And at a recent visit to Monterey CA, the hotel we stayed at served theirs with organic lemons and oranges. So I will defintely try this especially on days we run out of bottled water and have to rely on tap!
