Many of you “know” me as a woman passionate about frugal homemaking – yard sales, coupon cutting, frugal fashions, and crazy bedlam moments. I love to have fun and act all crazy.
But I also desire this blog to be an opportunity for you to glimpse into my heart.
To know your worth as a woman – both practically and eternally.
I want you to understand that your value runs so much deeper than my limited blogging time can ever express.
I would love nothing more than to share life over a cup of coffee, and help encourage each other in our role as women (the good, bad, and ugly).
Since that’s not physically possible, I thought I would give you the chance to peak into my “real life.” I always love it when I can see my blogging friends and hear their voice (even if it was all scratchy from being sick all week. 🙂
I know it says “8 minutes. ” Please don’t feel like you have to hang around that long, but you just might want to. 🙂
And since I know many of you will wonder when you see my Frugal Fashionista outfit…total $5.50.
Sweater – $2, Pants $1, necklace – $0.50, and boots $2 (everything from yard sales. 🙂

by Nicole Johnson.
Thank you…
This is wonderful. I am not a mother yet, but completely understand the sentiment behind being invisible. Between work, husband, volunteer work, Bible Studies- it is easy to feel lost. Thank you for this encouragement – it is a wonderful lesson.
Jen, that was incredible! I needed to hear it after the Mother’s Day that I had.
I have to say, though, that I was distracted thinking, “Holy Cow, I have to speak on the same venue as this woman next week!” You’re such a pro! WOW!
Great video! We are planning to add to our family soon and I really want to stay at home, but worry so much about that invisibility if I do. Totally gave me something to reflect on!
That’s so true. Many people(not just women) try to please others instead of God. At the end of the day, He’s the only one that matters.
That was a very powerful message. You did a great job and seemed so at ease up there. I did a talk at our church a couple years ago and was pretty nervous esp. the first time. I always learn something when I read your blog thanks for that! Sue
My two year old son cuddled up to watch this with me 🙂
It was beautiful (and he thought you were pretty!)
Ok, you’re amazing! What a wonderful speaker you are, and such a beautiful message I needed to hear! 🙂 A great reminder of the One I’m working for! May God always have the glory in my home!
What a great message and so true. I needed that. Thank you.
Thank you…that was exactly what I needed to hear today.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful message – something we need to be reminded of often. I will share with others.
Hi Jen, 🙂
I just found your wonderfully inspiring blog and I adore it!
I hope you can visit mine sometime as well. You’re always welcome!
Have a blessed day.
~Warmly, Melissa 🙂
Nice to “hear” you! And what a great outfit!
Hey Jen,
I REALLY needed to hear that powerful message today. You were amazing! You looked fabulous! So very true! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thanks for the encouragement!
I haven’t finished it yet (gotta run to church), but I WILL finish it! I’ve heard or read this before, but not with beautiful you speaking it!
Wow!!! I loved this. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog… funny how my post so related to your talk. This is so encouraging; I know I will be sharing it. You did a wonderful job. You are SO talented in many ways!!! Blessings!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU! I’ve been flying solo for a week now and I really needed this message to help me “recharge” and not mind being invisible. I especially need the bit about self-centeredness. 🙂 What a powerful analogy and powerful delivery! Again, thank you!
That is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s something I need to constantly re-read and remind myself of. Thank you for sharing! You are an amazing speaker! =)
Blessings, Kathy

I had read the story before but really needed to hear it again right now. I have the invisible woman disease going on right now and your post was perfect timing to remind me why I do it and what it is all about.
And loved the frugal outfit 😉
Thanks. I’ve heard it before, it’s so easy to forget – not bases on your excellent presentation, but my silly humaness!
Thank you, Jen, for the message and for sharing it with us here.
Thank you Jen! I myself had been feeling a little invisible lately. Thank you for the reminder.
Jen,
You are a natural teacher! I loved watching you tell that story! Fabulous!!
Blessings
The sound isn’t working on my computer! Shoot. I’ll be back after my hubby fixes it… apparently it’s beyond my limited technological abilities! 🙂
Bravo! Sooo worth the 8 minutes. The great thing is that we’re building this great work and yes, we won’t see it completed here on earth but if we build it right, it will go on forever. Generation after Generation will continue to build and add to the seemingly small work we are doing now… What a fantastic legacy we leave to God if we do our work well. Every minute being invisible to my daughter shows her how to continue building for HIM. Great message Jen.
What a beautiful message! God has given you such a wonderful gift of teaching and speaking. You have such a powerful message to deliver to God’s children…something we all need to hear. Very encouraging…Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂
I have heard that story before as well..but a refreshing reminder is always nice 🙂
Great outfit!
Beautiful!
I watched all 8 minutes and it was fabulous! What an amazing message and reminder to us all. Thanks for sharing that Jen.
~Amanda
I love that story!
By the way, I like your fashion posts. You mentioned something about thrift shopping when you were a larger size. Any more tips on that? And what did you do to lose the weight? You look fabulous.

After mother’s day, I think many moms feel a little sunken as we are thrown back into our demanding days. Your message reminds me Who I serve first – vs. focusing on tasks instead of pouring out love to others God puts in my path. Thanks for detouring us off of “self” once more…
Jen,
I saw this drama presented several years ago at my church… yet, today, it had me sobbing. Today has been one of those “invisible” days for me. Here I am, just vegging out, reading blogs, trying to relieve some of the stress of the day and the Lord chose to encourage me through your drama. Thank you for reminding me that this work of motherhood is great… it is one small step at a time… and the Lord sees each thing I do as significant as I raise the children He has blessed me with. Thank you for sharing this- I leave encouraged!! Blessings!
I am typing through tears. I was listening to your message while holding my smiling 7 week old daughter. I FELT the truth behind what you were saying. Both of my parents passed away last year from cancer, at the age of 59. While they were sick I realized I wanted, needed, more children (this is my third). I found out I was pregnant 5 days after my mom passed away (my dad died three months before). I often think about how this child will not know them and also of my own mortality. Your message made me realize that I will not see my children’s lives “completed”, just as my parents didn’t see mine, and it is OK. There is a plan and the work I do everyday as a mother is not in vain. The little things count even if they aren’t recognized. Actually in thinking of my parents it is often the little things that I remember and miss. The things that we never discussed and I probably just took for granted. I’m rambling but I wanted to tell you how touched I was. I don’t get to check my favorite blogs as often now days but today it was almost as if it were meant to be. Thank you:)
Jen, Thank you so much for your story! Your message really touched my heart. Your blog is my absolute favorite and I love all the glimpses ito your life. Thanks for sharing, teaching and always encouraging me.
Nicole
Thanks, I needed to hear this, it is a great message. I don't want to forget what I am building. The time I spend bemoaning my invisibility is time I lose in my building. You are a wonderful speaker!
