The thought of taking the night off from cooking dinner sounds so wonderfully appealing right now.
Nine times out of ten, if my husband asks me where I want to go out to eat, it’s Cracker Barrel. I’ve shared my devotion to that restaurant here on my blog many times, and my love of them runs deep. The memories that our family has from our years of eating there always causes me to smile and sigh.
You see, I am not a fancy, gourmet type, eat out kind of girl. Just give me a choice of down home goodness any day and I am so very content. Match that with the fact that I can browse the gift shop, play checkers and sit by the big roaring fire while I wait, and I am more than happy.
I don’t really know why we even look at a menu anymore. Five out of the seven of us chose the same entree each time. Peach pancakes, Uncle Hershel’s Breakfast, Grilled Chicken Tenderloin and lots of Hash-brown Casserole can always be found around our table.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it, and I bet looking at my pictures causes you to do the same.
One of my fortunate readers is going to win a $100 Cracker Barrel Gift Basket filled with some of their favorite products. Do you see the above basket? Yes, I already received one and you are going to get the same thing. It’s so fun!
Since it’s Tasty Tuesday, and I know many of you love kitchen products, not only will you receive fun food items, but you will also receive one of their Cast Iron pans. I’m slowly purchasing a variety of sizes for my Cast Iron collection because theirs nothing better than a loved and fully seasoned skillet.
If you don’t live close to a Cracker Barrel, most of these items are on sale online. A fun new fact that I didn’t know is that you can visit any Cracker Barrel location and handpick items from the store to fill a basket with games, sweet treats or goodies. They’ll wrap and decorate the custom-made basket or bundle at no additional cost, and that really makes a great gift.
One Winner will receive this $100 Gift Basket from Cracker Barrel:
Lodge Logic Skillet
Cracker Barrel Pancake Mix
Cracker Barrel Natural Syrup
Cracker Barrel Coffee
Rocking Chair Mug
Cracker Barrel Spiced Apple Butter
Cracker Barrel Fried Apples
Jumbo 3-in-1 Jumbo Checkers
Traditional Peg Game
Cracker Barrel Peanut Brittle
Moon Pies
GooGoo Supreme
Cracker Barrel Pecan Log
Cracker Barrel Praline Fudge
Bob’s mint sticks
Thin sticks
You have four chances to win, but only one entry is necessary to win.

I first went to Cracker Barrel with my family many years ago. The chicken and dumplings were a revelation and something I try to this day to replicate. 😉
I LOVE Cracker Barrel! We happen to have one less than 10 minutes from our house- I love to stop in and browse their gift store from time to time. They always have the neatest things!
The first time I ever went to a Cracker Barrel was actually for a 1st Day of School Breakfast with my homeschooled children. It’s a yearly event- and since we don’t eat out often, something we really look forward to. We started out visiting a different restaurant each year, but that kind of changed after we tried Cracker Barrel. They’ve been our restaurant of choice for the past five years now. 🙂 My husband and children love the potato casserole and fruit topped pancakes and I love the muffins!
The first time I went to Cracker Barrel was June 1996, in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was also my first time in MB, since Iowans have pretty much no idea where it is, although I’ve since discovered that it is the law to visit if you live in KY or WV, where it’s simply referred to as “The Beach.” I had the great fortune of discovering hash brown casserole that day and have ordered it (and recreated it) many times at home since.
For the first time, I went to Cracker Barrel on a family vacation when I was a little girl. It is still a favorite of mine to this day.
I can’t remember the first time I went to a Cracker Barrel, we used to go sometimes on our family road trips so I’m sure I was a little kid at the time. I used to always get their grilled cheese from the kids menu!

The first time I ever went was in Indiana when I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. 🙂
I first went to Cracker Barrell shortly after they opened in my hometown when I was a little girl. Since then, the tradition has carried on with my husband and son going pretty faithfully as that, to, is our restaurant of choice. When moving across country, we only ate at CBs, as my husband calls it. When out west, it was the only place to go for sweet tea, grits, or chicken and dumplings, I still go for those now.
I follow your blog faithfully.

The first time was on a road trip to North Carolina with my husband and then-toddler. We’d heard it was a good place to stop along the road, and we heard right! My son was entertained, we were well-fed, and have stopped many times since.
I was a tween or young teen the first time I went to Cracker Barrel. The store is the *best* travel aid ever. A ring pop or push pop from the CB store will keep the kids quiet and entertained for an hour on a long trip (although I do wish there were versions made w/ cane sugar and without the artificial dyes etc).

The first time I went to Cracker Barrel? Who can remember? However, I have had some notable Cracker Barrel experiences…we went there when we wanted to see some vegetables after being at Disney World for a week, eating crackers and chips and popsicles. I met my dad there once when my husband was in school and we lived eight hours from my parents. Dad was a pilot at the time, so he met me for lunch and then left again and I cried. Our kids have not been to Cracker Barrel very often, but they would love it. Thanks for the giveaway!
I didn’t know Cracker Barrel until moving south. My favorite memories are stopping when traveling – they seem to be always open – and feeding babies in the rocking chairs!

I remember going as a child, on trips, we either stopped at Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans. I got my first harmonica from Cracker Barrel and cherish it to this day. My family LOVES eating out there, and not long ago, when visiting a friend, our supper plans changed last minute so we just went to Cracker Barrel. I love sharing that passion with others across the globe! =]
Love Cracker Barrel 🙂 I can not even remember the first time, it was with my Grandparents years (and years and years) ago.
I grew up w/Cracker Barrel. But since we never really went out to eat, it was always a big treat, and a favorite for us to go to when we traveled as well. To this day I love the frozen mugs w/milk and apple crisp during the fall season!

I so want the cast iron skillet. Have never been to a cracker barrel.
The first time I ever went to Cracker Barrel was when my younger sister and I were on a road trip with our grandparents while my older sister went with my mom on a school trip. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel somewhere in Missouri and I remember thinking this was the coolest place ever! You can play games while you eat, checkers by the fire, and there was an awesome store filled with trinkets and old-time candies! I thought “aw, we need to make this trip again so we can come here!” Well, in my eleven-year old knowledge, I didn’t know that there were plenty Cracker Barrels back in Oklahoma. Now as a grown-up, I thoroughly enjoy stopping in with family and friends and having a heaping helping of apple butter, mmmmm!
I can’t remember my first visit to Cracker Barrel – I’ve been there so many times! I am addicted to their peanut brittle. My aunt and uncle gave us a huge tub of it for Christmas, and we practically inhaled it!
I can’t remember the first time I went to Cracker Barrel but I do know I love it and I do know that my favorites things there is any breakfast or meat loaf yum yum!
Love the comfort food and homey feel of our Cracker Barrel! We always try to get a table by the big woodburning fireplace this time of year, and the kids play the peg game on the table while we wait to be served. My favorite thing to order is the grilled chicken tenderloin salad. Mmmm!
I’ve only been once – about 8 years ago in Florida.

Believe it or not the first time I went to Cracker Barrel it had just opened the first in our area. I was with my 6 week old daughter alyssa and my friend Frank. It was my first time out with the baby and had an overwhelming amount of people stop to say how beautiful she was. When we asked the waitress for our bill she said that someone had paid our bill. I was in awe I asked her if she could tell me whom so I could atleast thank them and she said he had already left. He had told her he was away from his family on business and was homesick, he said we had a lovely family and just felt the urge to do something nice. It warmed my heart and made me think how blessed I was to have such a joyous beautiful daughter. She is 6 now and is still such a joy.
On another note I love the Cracker Barrell and all the home cooked food. I do also love to wander the gift shop and be reminded of when I was younger. I filled my daughters stocking with candy and little beanie babies from there. I would love love love to win. Thank you for the opportunity.
I’d go for the biscuit pan or cover at Cracker Barrel!

LOVE love love “Crackle Barrel” (as my 4 year old calls it). It is pretty much the only place we eat on road trips. Great comfort food, big porch, and shopping… what’s not to love? Even our 10 year old, whom we brought home from China 11 months ago and initially hated all American food except hot dogs, quickly learned to love CB. She gets so excited when we go; her favorite meal is the spicy grilled catfish. And she eats the entire 2 pcs of fish, 3 veggies meal. She has astonished many waitresses when they see her clean her plate.
Anyway– I’d love to get some of their cast-iron for my own collection. That, and DH is very fond of their apple butter. Thanks for sharing this giveaway!!
Also– I subscribe through my Google Reader! BB&B is one of my fave blogs!! 🙂

I’m not sure when I went to the Cracker Barrel the first time, but I can tell you for sure that it is my favorite restaurant! For a year and a half my husband and I lived at Ocean Creek Resort in Myrtle Beach. There was a Cracker Barrel right next door! We live in Columbia now, but we still have access to a Cracker Barrel about 15 minutes away. Not only do I love the food, but the store is a great place to shop for reasonably priced gifts. I love it, folks.
I think the first time I went to Cracker Barrell was on a trip to Florida when I was a teenager.
I can’t even remember the first time I went to Cracker Barrel…probably back in the late 90s! Then when we lived in Ohio for a decade, it was right down the street & we ate there often!
Since they have so many delicious dishes on their menu, I always get the Cracker Barrel Sampler. This way I get a little bit of everything!
My favorite thing that I always buy at the general store is Dionis cucumber mint lip balm. It is made with goats milk and it is the BEST!!!!

I LOVE CRACKER BARREL! My friend and I go there regularly, and I was telling him that I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal there. The food is always good, and I love their general store – it’s the only place I know where I can get my Black Jack gum! By the way, those Lodge Logic preseasoned cast iron skillets are top rated – it’s especially neat that they have a custom pan with the Cracker Barrel logo.

I remember our first stop at Cracker Barrel was when we were en route to visit my mom’s side of the family in Alabama. We were driving from central Il. and stopped just south of Nashville. We had seen them advertised but had never stopped. That then became the place we would stop everytime after that. Dad would never stop for a bathroom break but boy if you mentioned you were hungry and there was a Cracker Barrel up the road he would stop. He’s gone now but that is something I will always remember and share with my kids.

I first went to Cracker Barrel as a nine year old girl with my grandparents. At the time, we didn’t have a Cracker Barrel where we lived in Kansas. However, my grandparents would take a trip to the family farm in Kentucky once or twice a year. And there were several CB restaurants along the way!! When I was 9 they took my brother and I along with them. I think we ate at CB 5 or 6 times that trip! 🙂 SO fun! I thought it was a magical place as a young girl….and I still love to stop there when we get a chance!

I can’t remember the first time I went to Cracker Barrel, but I always love to browse the store while waiting for a seat. Kind of kicking myself for not buying a couple of Christmas ornaments when there before Christmas. They were gone when I went back the week after.
I follow you via email. I’ve never been to a Cracker Barrell. I live in Philly – don’t know if we have one
I grew up in Canada, but whenever we went on vacation in the States, my mum insisted that we stop at Cracker Barrel. She loved it. My first memory is mashed potatoes and the little golf tee game they had on each table. That was always my favourite!

I love all of the Christmas ornaments in the gift shop. For the past several years, they have had a lot that were not so “rustic.”
Don’t remember for sure when I first went to a Cracker Barrel, sometime between ages 10 and 12 I would guess. Love their reasonable prices on the menu!
I just went there for the first time this summer, pretty pretty.

I cannot remember the first time I went to Cracker Barrel! It seems like it’s always been one of our favorite restaurants! I only wish there was one closer to us. We have to drive 35 minutes to get there and pass about 400 other restaurants on the way, so we just don’t get there as often as I’d like!

I “think” the first time I went to Cracker Barrel, dh and I were traveling with 5 of our kids when they were all 5 and under to visit family in Florida. We always drove all night to get at least half of the trip done while the kids slept. WE were looking for a place to get the kids out of the car and eat for breakfast. We feel in love with it at that point.
My first time at Cracker Barrel was with my Mom. I got the apple pancakes and felt so special getting that cute little bottle of syrup. In fact, I still do! Hashbrown Casserole is a necessary side dish. Thank you!

I have never been to a cracker barrel, and to my shagrin, the first time one of my friends from college mentioned it, I thought it was some kind of a joke because I am white and from way up north. Anyway, I would love to try it someday, but for the time being, their 12′ skillet with the lid, or their drop biscuit pan look great. Thanks for the giveaway.

My first time at Cracker Barrel was when my family went on a roadtrip from Michigan to Florida. I don’t even remember what I ate, but I remember my Grandma ordering with a fake southern accent, and thinking how cool it was seeing her corn in the foil & getting real southern food. My brother and I played the peg game the whole time! Now, we go to Cracker Barrel for my birthday every year because we all love it so much. The chef salad is delish!:)
we went a few times last winter when my daughter was doing winter swim meets (up at 5 am, done with it before 10 am). i love their waffles.
I first went to the Cracker Barrel about 20 years ago with my late husband. We both fell in love with their food…..just like homemade. We used to go for breakfast at least 2 or 3 times a month.

I bought my striped witch socks and shoes for last Halloween. We went on a two week trip last September/October to celebrate our 40th anniversary and we looked for Cracker Barrels morning and night. We love the food and the people that work there!

I love Cracker Barrel for the same reasons you gave. I am not sure when the first time I went was, but I think it was when they built a new one in Battle Creek, MI. (In the mid/late ’80’s)? Often went to breakfast with a group of people I worked with. If I am really hungry I order the “sunrise sampler”, otherwise it’s the “old timers.” Best place to get breakfast out!! Never seem to get there on the day they have sweet potato cassarole or the chicken pot pie. I pick up Christmas ornaments there for gifts when they are on clearance in January.
I’ve been going to Cracker Barrel since I was a kid. I remember we were excited when one opened up close to our town because we would always stop at CB when we were traveling.

I can’t remember the first time I ate at Cracker Barrel but it must have been 30 yrs ago. The one thing I do know is that it is one of my favorite places. There is a joke in our family when asked how long it would take me to go from point A to point B that it depends on how many Cracker Barrels there are between because I will probably stop at every one. I love everything on the menu and like to shop and prefer their restrooms over any.
