I remember the first time that I popped a Chocolate Oreo Truffle in my mouth. I was awed at the deep rich goodness. When I found out that only three ingredients were involved, my heart did a little pitter-patter.

Oreo Cookies are a family favorite, but actually creating them into a Cookie Truffle is a recipe that must be printed and made – often.

My daughter decided to take the plunge last weekend, and make them all on her own. There’s something special for a mom to taste the labor of your daughter’s creation, and then share it with you. Please note that when a twelve year old makes such a delicious treat, perfectly smooth chocolate is not the goal, but isn’t it wonderful to know that it doesn’t have to be perfect, to still be a complete crowd pleaser. Initially, she was sad that the chocolate wasn’t perfectly smooth, but we had a great discussion about enjoying creativity in the kitchen, without it needing to be perfect.

We served these to my mom’s group and not one complained. 🙂

There are so many creative ways to change up  this recipe by using different flavors of cookies,  and make them perfect party ready by drizzling white chocolate, sprinkles or any kind of pretty food adornments. I’ve used vanilla “oreo” cookies, peanut butter cookies are delicious, but of course, good ‘ole Oreos are our children’s favorite.

Enjoy this fun and easy Cookie Truffle Recipe.

I’d love to hear in the comments how you have changed up the variety of this simple recipe. What various cookie/chocolate combination have you used? I am going to try Nutter Butters and chocolate next, followed by Fudge Mint Oreos. YUM!!
