We cranked the kitchen music to The Sound of Music’s “Favorite Things.”

We twirled and danced and sang at the top of our lungs.

My girl and me.

She loved it. I loved it. We giggled and were silly and just didn’t care that the rest of them rolled their eyes.

In the midst of a stressful week, I choose the simple things to embrace.

The things that don’t cost money. The things that lighten ones heart when days bring sorrow. The things that bring joy.

Strolling down the aisle of Aldi’s, I spotted these beautiful, little Primrose plants on sale for only $0.99. Yes, for less than a dollar, I brought a touch of spring to my kitchen table. (well, I couldn’t stop at one, so $3 – full disclosure.)

In the midst of this dreary, black ice, winter week, these simple pleasures brought a ray of sunshine to my dull centerpiece.

In the kitchen, my desire is to find a way where my mundane, routine tasks are somehow transported into moments of sheer simple pleasures.

It’s a choice.  A choice of joy.  It doesn’t always happen, but when it does, I smile, and realize that the easiest way to change my attitude is always my choice.

For this Tasty Tuesday, I’d love to hear how you try to make your kitchen a place of simple pleasures?
