Until today, I had only been to the Ringling Brothers Circus once, yet the memories were still magical.
Tonight, I was able to share those memories with our children, and give them that same gift. The gift of wonder and awe. I had forgotten just how many talents, tricks and treasures are packed into one two hour show.
It’s a cacophony for the senses.
Lights, music, singing, dancing, tricks, humor, awe, wonder, surprise, danger and more…
all rolled into one experience.
For so much of the evening, I just kept watching the faces of our children. The reactions changed from minute to minute. That, in and of itself, was magic for this momma.
Thank you, Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus for sharing with us for nearly 150 years, why you are truly the Greatest Show on Earth. Now my children know why as well.
When was the last time you went to the circus?
What’s your favorite thing to see?
I highly recommend you put that on your “to do” list for this next year.
We were there last night as well – great show!
So glad you enjoyed it! I’ve only been once but we are waiting to take little man when he’s a bit older. BTW you were in my neck of the woods! A friend of mine went last night too and was raving about how much fun she had with her family.
Are you in the Piedmont Area? I know it was in three locations in NC last night, which is the first time in history that they did that…very neat.
LOL oh no we are actually a little farther east. I guess we are considered coastal. They had 3 shows! That is amazing. I assumed there was only one. That’s what I get for assuming….lol
We took our 3 kids last year to the circus and it was awesome.
Our 2 year boy’s eyes were glued to all the action and his facial expressions were awesome. The girls loved it also. Our 4yr old loved seeing all the pretty outfits and the animals and we got there early so they could touch the animals and get their faces painted.. It is something we will never forget…
And it was free for us my in laws paid for all of us to go.. They love to share the great memories with us..
We wanted to take the kids but it is a bit expensive. IMO Any savings suggestions?
They had all kinds of different price options, and I know that local stores etc gave discount tickets for $8. The tickets are up higher, but I “think” if it’s not filled, you can move closer (ask about that though… 😉
We’ve got a little one ring circus, called the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus which comes to our small town every other year, under the sponsorship of our local Lion’s Club as a scholarship fundraiser. It’ s a real mom & pop operation. They roll into town early in the morning, and they encourage everyone to come watch them set up on the soccer field at the community center, complete with the elephants and horses helping. They do a petting zoo and elephant rides later, and then two shows (really amazing trapeze work, and really close-up), with more elephant & pony rides during intermission. Afterward, they set out their goats to clean up the field, break camp, and move about 30-50 miles to the next small town to start over the next day. Whew.
We only have the Shriners here. They’re okay, but pretty close-up in a small building, and the women’s outfits make me a bit uncomfortable taking my boys to watch–pretty revealing.
I’m suprising my hubby with a date night at the circus next month. so excited!
I would just like to share a differing opinion, no offense meant. Please be aware that circuses are notorious for mistreating their animals. Whenever you buy a ticket, you are indirectly supporting this practice. That’s why my kids will never go to the circus. I figure my conscience and my family will be better without it.
No offense taken. I appreciate your feedback and that is why I researched it before I attended. They have quite a few links that address that issue. Now, I realize that they can print anything they want, but I am assuming they are under great scrutiny by many animal rights activists and they are pretty conscientious since they are such a large circus.

We just went last week to the Zing, Zang, Zoom show in NC. It was only a one ring circus. Did you go to one in Raleigh? My youngest son had never been and my middle son didn’t remember. They LOVED it.
My son is taking his children to Barnium Bailey Circus tomorrow and I want to give him money for the kids to ride the elephant. Does anyone know what the cost is?
does ringling offer elephant rides
