As Easter Sunday approaches, many of us try to iron out our last minute holiday plans. On the other hand, many know exactly what will be served on Sunday because it just wouldn’t be Easter without our favorite foods.
There’s something about partaking of food with others that makes it a personal experience. Especially at holidays, emotions can be high, so gathering together offers a plethora of emotions. I pray that this week will be a time of enjoying one another, celebrating family and remembering fondly those little things in life that most often, are the BIG things.
We host our Annual Easter Eggstravaganza every year at our home. Along with all the fun and games, we typically have the same meal every year and I LOVE it. Traditionally, we do a brunch with breakfast casseroles, my special French Toast Bake, hash brown casseroles, homemade butter horn rolls, fruit salad and ham. We throw in a few new things each year.
Last year, I created a Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle for the first time, and it was delicious. I definitely think it’s a new tradition.
This year, we’re adding in our Resurrection Rolls. A simple, but meaningful tradition you do not want to miss. If you’re looking for a simple food tradition to establish with your family, but don’t know where to start, this is it.
We’re going to let everyone make their own during the prep time and them bake them on the spot. Yes, they are that easy and that good.
So what about your family?
Do you try something new every year with a varied meal plan or are you strictly a “traditional” Easter meal kind of group?
I’d love to hear about foodie plans for Easter.
As always, Please link directly to your recipe post and not your blog URL. Also blog courtesy requests that you please link back here so that everyone can join in the fun.
Sorry I forgot the linky! It’s up now!
Hey, Jen! Thanks for hosting yet another week of great recipes. 🙂 I have Bible study this morning, but will be back to visit around later this afternoon. 🙂
That trifle looks amazing. I have a trifle dish and I NEVER use it. I think I need to dust it off and try this!
Hmm.. we don’t really have any traditions for food as far as Easter goes. We are generally at church the entire day it feels!! LOL!
We definitely have some spring time favorites though.
That trifle and those rolls look yummy! Thanks for posting.
We usually spend Easter with family or friends so we usually bring something for the feast. We always make the Braided Easter Bread from FamilyFun’s website. It really is a yummy, egg-y bread.
I love the idea of resurrection rolls – what a meaningful tradition! Thank you for sharing it and for hosting.
PS – The trifle looks amazing too 🙂
I’ve never made a trifle, and that one looks AMAZING!!……I think I need to get a trifle dish NOW!!
We do different food for Easter…..we used to do brunch instead of dinner – then for several years we did a big BBQ…..now I have some breakfast recipes we like, so we may go back to brunch, but at home instead of going out.
I love the Resurrection rolls. I’ve been looking for more ways to reinforce the meaning of Easter with my girls and think this will be a fun tradition to begin with them. Thanks for hosting.
Your trifle looks so good! We are doing something new this Easter…our family was invited to a cookout with friends from church. We are looking forward to it and thankful for wonderful friends including our family! I hope you have a blessed Easter!
It’s still very cold weather here during Easter season. As an encouragement that warmer temperatures will one day arrive, we have ham, potato salad, baked beans, double eggs… picnic/barbeque type foods 🙂
Have a wonderful and blessed Easter!
That Trifle looks amazing! Why is something so important called a trifle??
Thanks for hosting!
We enjoy making the resurrection rolls too. I’ll have to try your cheesecake trifle, it looks wonderful! Have a lovely Easter weekend.
We don’t have any real traditional Easter dishes. We like to just have what sounds good. We always have deviled eggs…LOL….what a name for something to have on Easter (C: actually we decided they needed to be called Angel Eggs.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today Jen, I added the Tasty Tuesday link and button, sorry I forgot this morning!
You have some great plans for Easter. Love the Resurrection Rolls recipe and idea of using as a teaching tool! I have put this recipe on file to use when my grandchildren are old enough to understand.
All. that. food. Mmmmm 😀
Traditionally we have hame, scalloped potatoes, corn, buns and an array of desserts and salads.
I’m going to try the resurrection rolls for the first time this year! my 7 year old will love this.
We don’t have ANY Easter food traditions! I wouldn’t mind it, though! 😉 I love the idea of resurrection rolls. My kiddos would get a kick out of that! I’ve heard about a similar idea with cookies. Also – your trifle looks SO DELISH!! Mmmm!!!
