Somewhere along the way, the meaning of “the dog days of summer” has been lost on me.
A time of carefree magic that only a child holds onto without a worry in the world.
My wish for you this summer is that you may find moment so relaxing that you can literally shut out a crazy chaotic household, and embrace what it means to enjoy a “dog’s day of summer.”
(And in the words of my daughter…”it’s just so cozy.”)
That beautiful season . . . the Summer of All-Saints! Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Aw, so precious!! I wish I could do that.
Happy fourth Jen!!!
“… the freshness of childhood” indeed! Love the innocence of your pictures. Love Longfellow. Have you ever read Delta Wedding by Eudora Welty? I lived in the South for a few years, and I think it really captures that sort of languid Southern summer feeling, as well as the closeness that can develop in families, the kind where you can do stuff like fall asleep under the dining room table and no one remarks upon it (except for your mama taking a picture because you look so darn cute).
Awe, your pictures are so sweet!
You always make me go love on my little ones…thanks for that!
