I started to title this post “Cooking with Coupons”, but I don’t really cook with my coupons. 🙂 Yet I think I make nearly every meal where a coupon has been used to buy at least one ingredient.
Now, this isn’t a scientific study, although I could pretend to do one in my free time, but I guess it would be pretty close to 90% of my cooking are from products bought with coupons. (Because I really have done a scientific study on “Are Coupons Worth it?,” if you’re interested. It’s the one time I try and fool you into believing that I am all mathematically advanced – which I am not…SO not!)
And with that disclaimer, I would be remiss to not share one of my highlights from last weekend’s trip to Nashville.
The Blissdom Blogging Conference held many memories. Yes, I enjoyed speaking. Yes, it was wonderful to connect with amazing women who “get” me and this crazy blogging life I lead. Yes, all the swag and gifts were phenomenal, not to mention that the Opryland Hotel is the nicest hotel I have ever been in…wow…an indoor Disney it was.
But do you want to see my most EXTREME moments of joy?
Here it is…live!
Quite embarrassing to share just how excited I was, but this moment I actually got the privilege to look ,observe and collate all the coupons being given away at the Savvy Blogging dinner, (with many more to come from Blissdom, as well).
You do realize that they were speaking my love language, don’t you?
Could they have shared anything else that could have made me feel more welcomed and loved on my very first day?
(hmm…my personal photo of my coupons violated their terms of use? Well, TONS of coupons were in this picture.)
Because ladies, these were not just any coupons. Some of them were for absolutely free things. I don’t even need to plan, wait and use them when the items go on sale. I can buy WHENEVER I feel like it. (Oh, I am feeling quite rebellious now. That’s about as close to living life on the wild side as I get. 🙂 )
(Whew – this picture is a bit more acceptable. Reality has set in. They were sharing with me too…)
And how much better does it get when I was given a TON of $1 off coupons and Super Doubles at Harris Teeter begins again tomorrow?
Life is good. Yes, it’s the little things that are the big things.
And cooking with coupons is a little thing that brings me much joy…because I CHOOSE to let it. 🙂
So what crazy, little thing brings you joy?
Come on, if I can share my overly extreme excitement about free coupon products, you can feel free to share you little secret as well.
And then you can link up and share what neat thing you are cooking up in the kitchen for Tasty Tuesday. 🙂
Remember to please link to your recipe URL and not your home page, and as a courtesy to others, link back here so that everyone can join in on the fun. If you’re reading in email or reader, click on over for some recipe inspiration.
Thanks for all your help with our swag stuffing at Savvy Blogging. I was pretty excited myself when I saw the coupons going in the swag bags. Loved the purple shirt btw, so cute on you!
Toni
I love to get a good deal. I’m always a bit giddy when I get a product for a steal!
Nothing brings me more joy than coupons and cooking. We must be twins 🙂
I hate to admit it here, but I am just not much of a coupon diva. I must need boot camp. What IS really motivational to me in cooking is fresh herbs (from my garden) and fresh veggies (usually from someone else’s garden). 🙂
I love coupons and free things – I really like saving up to get something free, like with Pepsi labels or Coke points. The planning, plotting, mailing, waiting. It just feels me with wierd happiness.
Hey girlfriend! FREE is hard to top… Giving stuff for FREE even better! One of the reasons I love my job!
I LOVE to get coupons and get super excited about FREEbies! Sometimes I get so excited, I start talking 90-to-nothing and people think I’m crazy. Yep 🙂
I am obsessed with coupons. I feel like I have won something when I get a good one. My husband laughs at my excitement but applauds my plotting to make the most out of the coupon!!
What little thing brings me joy, hmmm….yep definitely free stuff!
I love being given hand-me-downs!! It’s like Christmas getting to go through a bag of free clothes! Even more exciting when the bag contains clothing items I love & that fit me perfectly!! 🙂
I’m with you!
I actually don’t use a lot of cents-off coupons, because they tend to be for convenience foods that we don’t use. But free-product coupons are hard to beat!
Wow! I came across your blog a little while ago and today is the first time and I’ve always enjoyed your posts! But today I was finally able to look at all the recipes – I am so exctied Thanks!!
I completely get where you are coming from…coupons are my most favorite things!!!!
Working on pulling coupons now for HT’s Super Doubles!
I admit I would of been so excited also! I am glad I am not the only one who gets so excited over things like that. I LOVE coupons!! Thanks for the sweet post..you made me smile!!!
Thanks to you and another coupon-guru friend of mine, I get heart palpitations when I go to the store with a handful of coupons and a matching sales flyer. 🙂 🙂
Wow! That’s a ton of coupons, I can see why you’d be thrilled. Things that bring me joy include sun, sun, sun, and no snow (can you tell I’m tired of winter!).
I would have been totally thrilled with all those coupons as well! Spending time with my family this past long weekend brought me joy.
Coupons bring me joy, too! I love the hunt and the success of saving money at the grocery store! For years I have told my hubby, “This is my sport!” It is a conquest, for sure!!! And most my meals also involve coupons (or Costco). My goal is to always have obtained ingredients at the lowest possible per/unit price. I am referring a friend to your site for more training right now! Blessings!!!
Oh you crack me up, coupons as a love language. I love you, you have a heart of gold.
Love this post! So cute…and I’d be shaking if I were around that many coupons!!
So can I just say that I am totally obsessed with those Arnolds Sandwich Thins that we got coupons for at Blissdom. Those are so yummy and we are addicted! Never would have bought them without the coupons!
I love Tasty Tuesday and today I’m finally jumping into the fun :).
OK, this is probably revealing something totally embarrassing, but I get excited about beans. Love them. They are both economical and delicious I cook them at least once per week (not counting the giant batch of hummus I usually make every week). I love them and so does my family. Of course, I am probably one of the only parents in the county who has to explain to her daughters how it’s not polite to fart at the dinner table. Hey, they had to learn sometime….
