Why am I doing this? This 30 days of torture is about a healthy lifestyle, right? Remind me of that, and I am reminding you of the same thing. 🙂
Day 3 of the 30 Day Shred is over, and honestly, if there was ever a time where I wanted a break, it was today. I told myself that it would be best for my body to have a day of rest or just easy walking, but then I heard Jillian in the back ground assuring me that she’s asking a lot of our bodies, but she promises the results are worth it.
So I did it…the whole thing, and every muscle in my body hurt (including my bootie and I didn’t even realize how much until we started the jump rope section.) BUT, I am SO GLAD I DID. I am writing this many hours after I pushed through and made myself do it, and I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER than I did before hand.
So, if you doubted that you could make it another day – push through! I’m typing this hours after I finished and the fact I feel better is amazing. A few more days, and it may not even hurt when I sit down. hee hee
Ladies – we are 1/3 of the way through Level One! I am so proud of you. I know you can do it! If you are just starting, then jump in at Day 1 and read through the other posts. Just start where you are.
New readers of my blog are going to look at my last week of posts and think this has turned into a fitness blog, so I need to get back to some of my regular posting, but honestly, it was hurting to type those first few days. Tomorrow, we’ll only check in only on my Balancing Beauty and Bedlam Facebook page
Tip for today:
Yell at the TV if it makes you feel better. I did.
So, what part of your body hurts the most?
Do you think you can keep going? Wait, I shouldn’t even ask. I know you can…
Are you new to our 30 day challenge of healthy living? Read and catch up from these posts.
I just started day one today Jen, and what will keep me going is checking in with you each day… I’ll be reading your status on FB 🙂 Great job on your day 3.
Hugs
Denise
Day 7 complete, hang in there ladies!
Day 3 here too. It does hurt and it is difficult but I feel amazing, believe it or not. I have so wanted to have a fitness routine other than some walking, and this is absolutely a godsend to me. I have to take some minimal breaks and cannot do all of the routines, as I have MS, BUT today I upped it to pasta sauce for my weights and did 22 jumping jacks and was almost able to do all the jump ropes. I am so proud of myself. I was an athlete, dancer and gymnast in my younger days and was real fit. 20 years of MS and 4 partial paralysis episodes has caused me to believe walking was the only exercise I could do. No way!!!! I am pumped….let’s all push, push and keep positive that this is GOOD for us!
Yesterday was supposed to be my day 3, but it just didn’t happen. Rough day with the kids, yadda yadda. Anyway, I did it today and all is good.
Bought the DVD and weights. Tomorrow will be my day one. Wish me luck!
Yes..day 3 down. My shoulders hurt …my chest hurts…and my calves hurt. From a girl with some pretty ugly calves I guess I am glad about that. 😉 I will be thrilled when I can add a “0” to that 3 and say 30 day down!!!
Til then …its day 4 to look forward to.
You do realize that you’re scaring me with these posts, right? I am expecting the dvd from Netflix to get here today. If the mail comes early enough then I will start today. If not then I will wait until tomorrow. It is encouraging to read how much better you feel even though your muscles are aching. That gives me hope. I am not particularly overweight but I don’t FEEL healthy or strong. I have 4 girls and I need to be around for them for a long time. My main goal with this is to get healthier on the inside. It’s not so much about what I look like on the outside. (Though I won’t mind a flatter tummy one bit…and my hubby probably won’t either! ;))
Day 3 complete, although I am having trouble with the push-ups. My upper body is so weak! But I can feel myself getting stronger. I was even able to push mow my large yard without my usual muscle soreness afterward! On a fun note, my 7 year old daughter was sick and stayed home from school and kept cheering me on while I was working out. Now my youngest wants to stay home so she can watch too!
@Kathleen, oh that is so cute..the daughter part, not the push up part.
As far as the push ups, that’s the hardest part for me right now as well. I had a friend who said by Day 3, she couldn’t push her body off the ground, but just do what you can. Hopefully, soon I can get off the knee part and do it for real.
Day 3 went well! And I just finished Day 4 (whoooo-hoooo!). My endurance is actually getting better, which is really cool.
My least fav part are the “squat and press” and the lunges with the bicep curls. Killer! I’m actually relieved to get to cardio and abs.
I’m glad we’re all in this together–it’s helping me stay motivated. 😀 I’m looking forward to the recap posts each day.
Good for you!! And really, fitness is frugal, you know – lower doctor bills, lower food cost (if you are also cutting calories) AND more energy to do other things that save you money!
Go, Ladies, Go!!! I’m on week four of 3-6 almost daily workouts, and am feeling really, really good. I’ve lost a little weight, but more importantly, I have more energy and am feeling strong. It’s so worth the sore muscles and fatigue!
Stay with it! It will get easier!
Heh, heh. Yell at the television…. Yes!
I am on day 3 today…I’m one day behind because of a lunchdate lol. BUT, let me tell you this is awesome. It makes my body hurt all over, especially my quadriceps. But, today I was less sore and still wanted to “pass”. But, I did it and now I’m not so sore…goodbye lactic acid!
Back in my high school days, I was on the girls’ weightlifting team and was pretty darned good – I won first place in the 119-pound weight class in the state competition. Doing real push ups was nothing for me. Two babies and six and a half years later and I am far from my prime! If it wasn’t for the pain in my arms that renders me incapable of anything more than breathing, I would laugh at myself as I do the “girl push ups”. The soreness is (very) slowly going away and the endurance gets slightly easier each day. Also, I’ve found very helpful (almost necessary) to carve out the same time each day for the workouts. As soon as my 9-month old goes down for her morning nap, I throw on my shoes, grab the jars of spaghetti sauce (and two baby food jars for my two and a half year-old to “exercise” with), and start the workout. I almost, sort of, kind of look forward to it!
You’ve inspired me! After reading your Day 1 post, I immediately went and put the 30 day shred in my netflix queue (and even moved it to position #1). I can’t wait to get it and get started moving my bootie!

My thighs are killing me the most, and it does hurt to sit down!! 🙂 Pushing through. Today was day 4 for me and I feel sooooo good after doing it.
I don’t have the materials to do this yet. Looks like a fantastic idea. Had to comment on the cartoon! That made me LOL :D! So funny :-P. I will look into this. I have been hearing a lot about the 3o day challenge. Way to go ladies!
I yelled at the TV!! During the jump rope, I started yelling, “start counting! start counting!” (meaning start counting down, I’m going to die) and my 7 year old looked at me, startled, and started, “one, two, three…”. I had to stop because I couldn’t breath and laugh at the same time!
