With fall scheduling in full force, pondering why I am barely keeping my head above water in certain “family manager” roles has been a topic.
My conclusion? I don’t have a plan.
Now, mind you, I am not a “write everything I do down” kind of a gal, I love the carefree aspects of life. Yet I am letting the weeks get the best of me without being intentional in some of the little things. Typically it’s the little things that I LOVE, but these days, it’s the little things not done that are getting me.
So, I invite you to join me today with a baking/cooking day. I started this on Monday, but most of what I made has been eaten so I am starting over. 🙂
If you don’t have the flexibility to set aside an hour or two today, or you are reading this months from now, use this as an incentive to start your week off with a bang. Make a plan…even if it’s a little one.
I love the accountability I receive from my blog, and challenging myself on my meal planning is one of them.
So here is my plan for the next few hours.
- Banana Pancakes ( I have lots of overripe bananas that are getting nasty, but perfect for baking).
- Banana Nut Muffins
- Whole Wheat Bread
- Cinnamon Rolls
Cooking aspect taken from my “One hour challenge,” which is now the trade mark in my kitchen.
- Browning ground beef…lots of it
- Cooking chicken and bagging it
- Doubling a lasagna recipe
- Doubling a rice batch
- Soaking beans
- Taco soup (made with what ever leftovers I have in the fridge.
I’ll try and live blog this as I go along, but no promises since I am a real committed blogger like that. 🙂
So come on, step away from the computer and preheat the oven. Try and do as many tasks as you can manage in one hour. Double, triple or quadruple those recipes. And remember, clean as you go.
You won’t believe the sense of accomplishment you will have in your day, plus your family will be dazzled and amazed.
And honestly, we’re doing it for them, aren’t we? Yes, I am a family manager. 🙂
This is impressive! I need to plan my baking days a little better. Today I am making blueberry muffins to feed us for a few breakfasts, brown bread, and chicken noodle soup (doubled recipe).
You go, girl! I need to be planning my bread making a little better….instead of running out and then dumping everything in the breadmaker to mix last minute, I need to plan it out. 🙂
I’m going to make some peanut butter cookies right now!
Then start dinner… if anyone is hungry after eating cookies..lol

between you and Crystal (money saving mom) I am DYING!!! to have my own bulk baking day… I haven’t had an oven since April and I miss it soooooooo much!!!
I have a list of what I am going to bake as soon as we get our oven.
I love the benefits (beauty!!) of insurance paying to repair/replace our oven but it’s definitely a frustration (bedlam!!!) how long they can take!
I don’t usually bake oe cook in bulk, but today I’ve two crockpots going with beans! Dry beans or SO much cheaper. I’m going to make chili and refried beans for today and tomorrow and then bag and freeze “cans” of beans for later.
