We’ve determined one of our 2009 family mottoes to be
“Simple Obedience”. *
It seems…well…so simple, but it’s…not.
One act of obedience is better than one hundred sermons.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Only
True
“Endurance is long obedience in the same direction,” from Jo’s pastor.
Wendy has encouraged me,
“One of my favorite Truths on obedience from Scripture is that blessings ALWAYS follow obedience. It is a promise from God, and I have experienced over and over again.”
Isn’t that a wonderful reminder, even in the midst of the seemingly mundane moments?
*(based on our pastor’s last sermon)
Yes and Amen. An important concept for us adults. And 3 year olds. 😉 We keep telling ours- JUST OBEY.
Blessings,
Megan
Awesome family motto!
Obedience is the “work” of faith. May we grow in both!
What a wonderful goal. We as parents teach our children to obey us for their own good. Sometimes I tend to forget that even though following Gods obedience at the time may seem difficult it always leads to an amazing blessing down the road.
That has been the story of my journey over the past two years…
I struggle at times with this myself. Great motto for the family.
Amen!!! Perfect family motto!

A good family motto for 2009 indeed!

You are so right. It sounds so easy to be so difficult. Wonderful post. laurie
Truly, this is the only thing the Lord asks of us. If we will obey, we will be, do, and enjoy everything He has planned for our lives. Our family is praying toward this, too!
It’s sound easy but it is NOT…great motto for the year! Love it!

Great family motto! Love Dietrich.
Our pastor once said “Endurance is a long obedience in the same direction”. Watching for God with you.
I’m thrilled. Thank you. How I wish we lived closer. I’m trying to convince my family to do the whole compound approach :). He hehehe. Thanks for the link. You made my day!
Love your family motto. One of my favorite Truths on obedience from Scripture is that blessings ALWAYS follow obedience. It is a promise from God, and I have experienced over and over again. Thank you for reminding me of the importance of obedience again today!
Blessings,
Wendy
I love the idea of a family motto for the year! I must lift this idea it you don’t mind! OH my (great OUAF idea!!) you could have a whole book of things you’ve done to earn the obedience family key! Hmmm! LOVE IT! In my case it would be a book of how to better be obedient book!
Beautiful picture! And great motto! If only it were that easy to do it! Thanks for sharing…
And, since you’re a regular on my blog, I wanted to give you a personal heads up about my exciting news this week.
I’m going to be interviewing Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee on my NEW talk radio show Wednesday, January 7, at 1pm.
The direct link for the show is:
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/1SmartMama/2009/01/07/Governor-Mike-Huckabee-and-Leigh
I’d love for you to call in to talk to the governor – just call after you hear his voice so the lines aren’t tied up for his call.
In the meantime, would you pass on the message to anyone you think would be interested?
Thanks! Hope to hear from you Wednesday!
SUCH a good thing to remember. Blessings follow obedience. Sometimes it is so comforting to know that we don’t have to reason out all the answers all the time, just obey and leave the rest to God. Thanks for the reminder Jen!

I am praying this as well… if only we would follow and allow Him to lead. Great family prayer….
