(Directions to make these frugally, adorable Pom Pom Decor found here.)

Most likely, any mom who has children has read all of, or portions of the book, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” Since our first four children, came within five and a half years, I am pretty sure I read that book cover to cover and probably even had it under my pillow a few nights, hoping the information would be absorbed while I slept.

With all of my pregnancies, I had extended periods of morning sickness, so many of those nine months passed in a complete blur. I was working full time with our first, sick as a dog, and just too exhausted too think much about decorating and putting together a beautiful nursery. I was just hoping to make it through the day without losing it.

I wanted to create that award winning nursery, and even dreamed about color choices, but the crib ended up being set up in our second bedroom/office/storage areas in our teeny, tiny apartment, and you know what, our eldest son survived.

Fast forward many years later, and I would LOVE to design a nursery now. So often, many people are easily overwhelmed by interior design decisions and choosing paint colors, that they do nothing. They get stuck.  In fact, I feel that way right now with picking out our great room paint color. I have had various paint swatches painted in one corner for two months (sigh), and just can’t make a decision.

Well, if this is you, I am thrilled to introduce you to My Colortopia – a destination where you can receive guidance, advice and inspiration around home décor, design and style. Some of my dear blogging friends, share their design help over there, and they are amazing.

My sweet friend Kate, showed off how this adorable girl’s nursery above began with muted soft neutrals, but then she spruced it up with some pops of pink. In fact, I choose this picture because they used the same pom pom decor that I often use for inexpensive party decor.

Aren’t the pink pom poms adorable? They make a great statement piece above the crib.

But what if you are like me? I can create something cute with accessories, but have a hard time with paint decisions. What if you don’t know if you want neutrals, bold colors, or maybe even white walls with great accents?

Take a minute and enjoy this fun interactive widget that will take your preferences into play and give you some wonderful color palettes from which to choose. I’ve had a blast playing around with it, and have had some really fun palettes picked out for me. The fun thing is that it’s given me some great choices for my great room as well.

So, was that helpful? Do you have a bit of painting inspiration?

With all this baby talk, I can’t wait to see the new movie coming out, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” (only in theaters). In it,  a couple picks out paint color for their baby’s new nursery, and you can find those paint colors that you and your little one will love with Glidden Brilliance Collection Paint, available at Walmart. I think it’s neat that we can see exactly what those paint colors will look like.

In honor of that, they are holding the My Dream Nursery Giveaway that Glidden® Paint to celebrate being featured in the movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting (only in theaters).
