Comfort Foods & How They Give Back

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Marie Callender’s for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

My daughter rushed in the door exclaiming, “Mom, we have to buy these little chicken pot pies that Aunt Rachel has.”

“Honey, I love chicken pot pie, but we can just make some of these nights.”

“No, Mom, it’s not the same. These are quick and easy. You know how much I love pot pie and I can just make them whenever I want. They’ll even fit in the toaster oven.”

The ensuing conversation had me chuckling, especially since I am posting 31 days of Soups and Casseroles for the next few monts over at my 10 Minute Dinners site.

While I love to serve recipes from scratch, there’s always room for some Marie Callender’s, especially with our crazy schedule.

My daughter didn’t know that I’d been invited to share about their amazing Comforts From Home project which brings the comforts of home to the brave men and women who support and protect our homes every day – the US military.

We walked down the frozen food aisle and when I was grabbing some other items, she saw these, “Please, Mom. These are what I was talking about. PLEASE!!!”

As I grabbed them and put them in my cart, I got a big hug.

Yes, sometimes it’s truly the little things that are the big things with our kids. 🙂

When I heard how easy they were making it to help our troops world wide, I was thrilled to spread the word. My special nephew is an officer in the Marines, and will be soon deployed. To hear his stories and the trials they encountered on a regular basis, I know how much it means to receive any kind of comfort from home.

For every entry by 1/31/15  of an 8 digit code found on specially marked package of Marie Calendar’s dinners or desserts, they will donate $0.50 to the USO2Go program that sends special gift boxes to troops stationed remotely throughout the world.  Guaranteed minimum donation $100,000, max $250,000. Limit 5 code entries per person/computer per day. Valid in US only.

Not only will you enjoy an amazingly delicious dinner, but your kids will thank you and you’ll help our troops. My nephew thanks you. 🙂

I have this site as an RSS feed – I need to add that one too! : ) Thanks for all of your work – I love your recipes and reading about your family! When are you going to do another Frugal Fashionista post?? Have a great weekend!

Thanks so much for your kind words.

Yes, my 10 Minute Dinners site has been slow this year, but my hope is to really start ramping it up.

I was hoping to get a Frugal Fashionista post up this week to go along with my clutter countdown series. I’ve taken some pics, but now I just need to get them up. This coming week. 😉
