As our youngest son and I feasted over some Orange Chicken last night, I asked him what his top five foods would be for a guy’s night in.
Pizza came out without hesitation. Definitely one of his first choices. (But he is a high school guy, so what did I except.) When I questioned whether it should be store bought or homemade, he wanted store bought (crush my ego), unless I would not try and make the homemade pizza “healthy,” then homemade would work. (Meaning white flour and lots of good toppings.) 😉
Then he mentioned wings, taco dip and he paused. He actually got up and went over to the computer. When I questioned him, he actually said this was too hard of a decision and he proceeded to google, “Good guy foods.”
Sheesh – can we not even think of favorite foods without technology now? 😉
Individually, I asked my older sons the same question and they both instantly rattled off, “Burgers, hot dogs, pizza, and wings.” It’s nice to know we are fairly predictable. Here’s where their answers differed. One mentioned pancakes (yes for a guy’s night) and pasta, while the other mentioned a huge plate of my Simple Sesame Chicken.
It was a fun question to ask. We all know that our guys feel loved when not only their souls are nurtured, but those tummy’s are filled.
I’ve listed a few of our favorites, along with some of their favorite guy time desserts. I love that they are so easy to please. NO fancy gourmet foods for them.
Do you have favorite Guy Food Recipes that you serve consistently?
I would love to hear your family favorites. A “Go To” list, as well as a prepared pantry stockpile for those special guys nights are always handy to have.
Homemade Pizza with my homemade pizza crust ( I still haven’t learn to successfully toss the pizza crust).
Our taco dip, which is a family favorite staple at three times a week, was his second request. I’d recommend the Beer Dip for the “big guys” in our life. 🙂
My Simple Sesame Chicken – a favorite main dish in our home.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats
Priceless Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
And if there friends sleep over, they definitely want these, although I told them I dough I would have the gumption to tackle these if they kept me up half the night (unless, I had some dough already frozen and ready to go from my freezer).
Copy Cat Cinnabon Rolls (Homemade Cinnamon Rolls)
The message of “Men: Easier Fed than Understood” is one theme that resonates in this home, and I am so glad that Ball Park wants to help. Understanding the guys in our life may be hard, but feeding them doesn’t have to be. Ball Park is dedicated to making food that is juicy, handheld and easy to make for any guy time occasion.
So what are you serving up for Tasty Tuesday?
Can you share some of your favorite Guy Foods in the comments? This will be a fun list to have on hand.
Thank you to Ball Park for sponsoring this post, since I can tell they know something about these hard to understand men in our lives. If you are on facebook, keep up with their Ball Park Facebook Page for info and coupons.
(As always link up, link back – in your post, browse around and spread some comment love to your favorite bloggers.)
My husband LOVES baked oatmeal. I make it for him usually once a week for breakfast — sometimes just plain maple brown sugar, but he especially likes it with fruit. I linked up one of his new favorites.
He likes cinnamon rolls too, and homemade calzones (filled with spinach & mushroom).
Hands down – meatball subs. I don’t understand it – but the guys love ’em – and I mean really love ’em! I’ve seen grown men acting as excited as the kids when I serve them.
Oh Melinda – why, oh why, do I not think of Meatball subs? Great idea! I have meat balls in my freezer right now! Woot! Dinner is done. 🙂
Guys are definitely better fed than understood! I have absolutely no tips to offer. My oldest son who is 15 is pretty good about eating whatever we have. However, I have no experience feeding the teenage crowd and would desperately love some tips. I’m saving your article so I can test drive the recipes on the 8 year old and his friends. I have to develop my reputation before they know any better! 🙂
I don’t have too much experience with “man food.” My husband will eat anything, and my 7 month old only eat purees. The recipe I’m sharing this week is a “man food” kind of dish – real meat and potatoes with gravy. I’m calling it the Downton Abbey roast in honor of the season finale.
Your taco dip photo looks so yummy! Can you share your recipe?
My guys like all those things, and especially pancakes! They also love Shepherd’s Pie and Yorkshire puddings, but I think that is more British guy food 🙂 They do like the Banana Oatmeal Raisin Muffins I’ve shared today too! Thank you for hosting.
Those pics all look so good.. Im making those cinnamon rolls this coming weekend & Im gonna have to go buy some sesame seeds for that chicken dish. My guys will absolutely love them!
In our house (2 big guys) they like Pizza, Wings, hamburgers, hotdogs & grilled rib-eyes..
They like those meatball subs too.. Yum.. Im hungry. 😉
And trust me, even if you don’t have the sesame seeds, it’s hard to stop eating it. 🙂 (Ask me how I know.)
Grilled Flat Iron Steak With Spicy Rub… such a manly dish that it was featured as Man Food on Werd.com.
When I think of guy food, I definitely think of steak, preferably grilled.
Taco chicken- I tenderize the chicken breasts, cut into smaller portions and then put them in a casserole dish. Sprinkle with taco seasoning and top with salsa. Cover and bake at 325ish for about an hour. We have it with mashed potatoes.
Hi, I hope you don’t mind if I ask for your taco dip recipe? It must be really good (and easy!) to have it that often.
I did search your site for taco dip, taco dip recipe, dip and dip recipe, and even looked at the beer dip recipe. It might be simple to you but I did not start cooking until I was an adult, so I always need a recipe for everything, with disastrous results when I wing it. So I hope you don’t think I’m being simple when I ask for your recipe, and I hope you take it as a compliment.
Thank you!
I totally take it as a compliment and it’s HORRIBLE, just horrible I do not have it posted, when it’s a family favorite and everyone wants the recipe. Since that picture is so not “Recipe worthy,” I will make sure and snap a picture and put it up for you, but it will be a week or so. 🙂
