Free Family Movies at Regal Cinema’s

regals free movieI first wrote this post in the summer of 2010, when the free family movies at Regal Cinemas were still free. Since then, the price has gone to $1, but that is still such a wonderful bargain for frugal family fun.
Since 1991, Regal’s summer movie festival has been a highlight for many families. It’s such a treat for our children to go to the cinema since with five children, we rarely splurge on expensive movie tickets, and now, even at a $1, we take advantage of this great opportunity.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday, for nine weeks this summer, Regal Cinemas are offering both G and PG movies beginning at 10:00am. It’s first-come, first-served, so I suggest you get their early for frugal family fun.   A portion of proceeds from the Summer Movie Express will be donated to the Will Rogers Institute.

Yes, easy Family Fun….You know I  love that!

For details, along with the movie schedule, check out Regal Cinema’s schedule.

Besides Regal, there are many theaters offering discounted summer movie schedules.

Some, like Marquee Cinemas , still offer showings for free, while Carmike Theaters offer admission, soda and popcorn for $2. In our family, the theater popcorn is as much fun as the movie.

Close by to us, Cinemark Theaters offers a $5 punch card which allows you to see 10 movies, or you may pay $1 at the door.

Ask around at your local cinemas, many of them all host family movie events, but they just aren’t widely advertised.

This is a great frugal friendly option to help beat the summer heat for a few hours, and have lots of fun.
