“Have nothing in your home that you don’t know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” William Morris

Over this past year, I’ve slowly been putting that sentiment into action. If this home is truly my haven, then creating beauty day in and day out, whether through simple decor, a cozy ambiance or even de-cluttering, should be a priority.

We are all in various stages of our lives; balancing different budgets, time constraints and work loads, but one thing rings true with most of us, home is the nicest place to be, so why not add some necessary inspiration.

Coffee Table Styling

You saw the beginning of my Before and Almost After Dining Room Make-over, but as I take a few baby steps forward in the process,  I’m finding real life home decor inspiration gets my creative juices flowing, much more than just pinterest inspired ideas.

I am on one of those hands on creative types. love to try and dissect styles, think of what I can recreate and even redo, and thing figure out what I need to add (or delete.)

A few months ago, I went to my first Home Fashion Workshop hosted by Havertys and shared some Simple Tips for Decorating Your Home. I immediately put into practice a few of the design ideas I received.

Every month, they host a free event for the public and their personal in-store designers cover a new topic each month. When I attended, the designers walked us through their showroom and shared how to accessorize varying parts of our home. I think it’s always a challenge to mix and match wood tones, textures, colors and accent pieces, but they broke it down step by step.

It’s as if I had my own private girls day out because not only did I have a morning of creative inspiration, but my first moments in the store began with the greeting of hot coffee, delicious pastries and home decor eye candy.

I spent time getting to the know the store manager and associates, who were completely at our service, willing to answer the many questions that were thrown at them.

I think every Saturday morning should begin like that, don’t you?

Over the next hour, I spent time getting to the know the store manager and associates, who were completely at our service and willing to answer the many questions that were thrown at them.

The only thing I regret about my day was that I didn’t grab some girlfriends and make it a morning out with them. I met lots of lovely people at the event, but that would have been icing on the cake, plus they could have helped me pick out the area rug I ended up buying. Months later and I can’t believe the huge impact it has on my entry way.

Since I’ve shared that one of my three home priorities this year is getting a better organization system put in place, Havertys upcoming workshop on February 22nd will be right up my alley.

Take a peek and find out if there is a Havertys location near you. I guarantee it will be a fun morning out.
