The thought of a cozy morning meal sipping coffee next to a huge, roaring fire sounds wonderfully appealing right now.
Nine times out of ten, if my husband asks me where I want to go out to eat, it’s Cracker Barrel. I’ve shared my devotion to that restaurant here on my blog many times, and my love of them runs deep. The memories that our family has from our years of eating there always causes me to smile and sigh.
You see, I am not a fancy, gourmet type, eat out kind of girl. Just give me a choice of down home goodness any day and I am so very content. Match that with the fact that I can browse the gift shop, and play checkers by that big fire while I wait, and I am more than happy.
I don’t really know why we even look at a menu anymore. Five out of the seven of us chose the same entree each time. Peach pancakes, Uncle Hershel’s Breakfast, Grilled Chicken Tenderloin and lots of Hash-brown Casserole can always be found around our table.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it, and I am so thrilled that one of you is going to experience that as well. Not only will one reader win a $100 Prize pack which includes a $50 Breakfast Gift Basket, but you’ll receive a $50 Gift Card as well.
You all have additional opportunities to win great Cracker Barrel gifts and gift cards by simply visiting crackerbarrelpicktowin.com and picking the items you’d like to win. Each “pick” enters you in a drawing for the item. It’s that simple! Contestants can play daily to increase their chances of winning, plus earn entries for the grand prize package — a front porch set, $100 Cracker Barrel gift basket and a $1,000 Cracker Barrel gift card– by sharing through social media channels. The sweepstakes hosted at Cracker Barrel runs through January 2, 2013.
Enter to Win: You have five chances to win, but only one entry is necessary.

I enjoy getting together with family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There can be no better tradition for me.
Our big Christmas tradition is going to see A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve followed by a fondue dinner — the last ten years we have done that with another family we are close to. This year we are on opposite sides of the country so we will be doing it on our own.
I have been following you through my Google/Reader since the October daily post challenge.

I always change the names of the kids on the presents, so they won’t feel and shake their own. Sometimes they are all star wars characters, sometimes Disney characters. I have to hurry and figure out their code names and wrap some presents.

Christmas tradition – having my parents spend the night with us so we are all together bright and early on Christmas morning.
Our tradition is to have a big Christmas eve meal and attend a candlelight service. When we arrive home, the kids are allowed to open one gift. If we happen to be near grandparents and cousins, they get to open the gifts from their grandparents and cousins on Christmas Eve too.

I love Christmas morning in pj’s, homemade breakfast, and twinkly lights on the tree.
I just love getting together with family.
Before our first Christmas together as husband and wife we went shopping for a Nativity set that would be our special family treasure for years to come. And so, before we put out the tree or hang one Christmas light, we have a tradition of having a special evening where we sing songs and tell the Nativity story as we put out the separate pieces of the set.
I read your blog every day.

Sometime in December we make a point to watch “The Christmas Story” where Ralphie wants a BB Gun. We do this with our grandson. We also like to drive around and see the lights. Of course, worship service is the most important part of the tradition…that is what it is really about!
I have always enjoyed making Christmas cookies. Especially when my siblings and I were younger we would come home from Late Christmas Eve Mass and make a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies for Santa. As we got older it was a time to hear and see what had been going on in each others lives. Now that we are married and have our own families we have all brought this tradition to our own families.
I started a tradition several years ago with my youngest son to have movie and junk food night. We get in our pjs, pick out a Christmas movie and eat popcorn, cookies, candy and drink what I call Grinch Juice (which is nothing more than the pineapple-7up-green sherbert punch).
One Christmas tradition I love is having a big christmas brunch after opening all the presents. I look forward to my aunt’s cheese grits all year.

For years when my husband was pastoring, we would have our Christmas Eve service and then all come home for soups and usually shrimp and open one gift(usually was a new pair of pj’s. Now that they are older, we still do the Christmas Eve service(either at church or one of our own) and then have soup together as a family.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is finding different churches and attending at least 4 Christmas programs that they put on. It is fun to visit new places, be refreshed hearing the Christmas story in new ways, meeting new people and then having desert afterwards. It also forces us at least 4 times during the season to stop and have a family evening. With all adult children and a grandma still around, that is a good thing to do rather than just on one day.

My favorite Christmas tradition is to take my kids outside on Christmas Eve and have them look up at the night sky to see if they can spot Santa’s sleigh! Almost every year they see a shooting star and their faces just light up! It’s Santa!

We have an advent calendar that includes gifts and things to do. When my kids were younger we weren’t so organized, but now that they are older and all over the country I send out my boxes and get to celebrate Christmas with them near or far. It’s just my husband and I now at home so most of our advent countdown is full of things to do. 🙂
I love the traditions of being with extended family we rarely see. Going to look at Christmas lights is one of my favorite things as well…

A tradition my husband and I have is to drive around on Christmas Eve through the neighborhoods near us and look at the lights. There are some awesome houses near us that have the lights synchronized to music when you turn your radio on a certain channel. It is really cool and definitely puts us in the spirit. 🙂

My favorite tradition is before my Mom passed away she would have drawings of all the kids & grand & great grandchildren. Then she would write a note about each one ..where she got the item the year, etc. It was awesome. We still do the drawings but without the notes. Still cool to get pieces that you grew up with.
Favorite tradition started when my son was 3, he is 29 this Christmas. He received a Chia Pet from Santa, before he realized it & before the day was over the Chia Pet was out of site & stored away. Next Christmas and every Christmas since he has received the very same Chia Pet wrapped in Santa paper from Santa. Feb 2011 he & his wife blessed me with my 1st grandson who last Christmas received his own Chia Pet from Santa, and Santa will give him the same exact one Tue.
I love decorating the Christmas tree with my girls every year.
